iPad enters UK government as Apple seeks camera expert for v.2 iPad

iPads may be about to take a seat in UK government, with the House of Lords administration committee recommending that iPads, smartphones and other mobile devices are allowed to be used in the Lords chamber and grand committee.

“We therefore propose that all handheld devices should be permitted in the chamber and grand committee provided they are silent. This would exclude conventional laptops,” the report said.

Lord Lucas told silicon.com that many peers are already using iPads, adding, “I’m waiting for the next generation of the iPad to get mine but I am certainly intending to use it in the chamber.”

He may be interested in what sort of ambitions Apple holds for the 3-megapixel front-facing camera we’ll see in iPad 2.0, look to the latest AAPL recruitment ad, which looks for a digital photography “expert” to work with the iPad 2.0 development team.

That need for an expert hints at some interesting new ideas, I hope. Not only this, but it is also pretty good evidence that the iPad 2.0 will indeed have a camera (just in case anybody isn’t convinced it is possible yet).

Crunchgear tells us the job’s based at Apple HQ in Cupertino. The person spec describes a “dynamic software engineer with the drive and desire to deliver great photography applications for the Mac and iPad platforms.”

I’m wondering if this will connect to any plans Apple may hold for some form of social network, particularly now News Corp.’s MySpace is officially on sale?
