ZuneHD prices: $220 for 16GB, $290 for 32GB

Amazon has inadvertently(?) released pricing for the new ZuneHD according to Computerworld.  The good news for consumers?  They are coming in at about $100 below current iPod Touches with comparable memory.  The bad news for ZuneHD fans?  The iPod touch will be likely be $100 cheaper when it goes on sale next month...with a video camera built-in and a trillion more apps.  The one major advantage for Microsoft is that the screen is an OLED variety which is superior to the current iPod touch screen.  Currently, the Amazon links don't work but we'd expect them to be up shortly.

Where are you coming up with the statement that the 3G iPod touch will be coming in @ $119 for 16 GB and $189 for 32 GB?

Personally, I'd crap myself if those were the prices. Then, of course, I'd clean myself up and go buy one!

Or when you say that, do you mean that you expect the 16 GB touch to drop at $219 and the 32 GB at $289 also? I'd still bite at that price for the 16 GB, for sure.

Why are you presenting rumors as fact; say that the Third Gen iPod touch "will be $100 cheaper when it goes on sale next month... with a video camera built-in".

That's just rumors, and though I'd like it to be true, you cannot post rumor as fact saying that it will. You should consider changing that to read "It is speculated that the new iPod will be...", or "rumors indicate that..."

could just be interdictory pricing. The device may look nice but MS has to over come a serious market bias, amass a larger dev community, reinsure consumer confidence and sell lots of units. not going to happen anytime soon...

I think MS should worry about getting Win7 right instead of attempting to confront and copy everything Apple.

Dumb ass the ZuneHD is going to fail just like the Zune did stores in canada dont even sell them anymore and even if they did give them away i would still spend 300 on a ipod touch or iphone for that matter Microsoft sux they have to copy everything

Microsoft is typical because the can't focus on one product to gain strength in that area. In other words they biggest downfall is that they never finish what they started. This is in the end why they going to have to give it up. They will lose everything but Windows and Office.

I think what Seth was getting at was the fact that Apple updates their iPod line in the fall of every single year. Those updates usually bring a bump in memory and the previous highest capacity iPod is moved down to the second pricing tier. These things are almost guaranteed to happen based on Apples history.

If all goes as expected, there will be a 64GB iPod touch available for the price of the current 32GB iPod touch and the 32GB version will drop (about $100) to the current price point of the 16GB version. If Apple decides to keep the 16GB touch (like they did with the 8GB iPhone), it will also drop in price.

I'm pretty sure Microsoft is larger than just a few people. They don't need to focus on only one thing like 4 yr old. They have divisions and in those divisions they have thousands of ppl - just like apple. I really think it is obnoxious to say they should just focus on one thing. Thousands and thousands of employees just focus on win7? What a waste - there wouldn't be enough work to go round. They have the resources to do whatever the hell they want.

I hate people who think Microsoft is copying Apple on "everything". Douche bags, Apple did not invent the MP3 player!

I heard people say the BB Storm and ZuneHD is a copy of the iPhone/iPod touch. In what way? Just because something has a large touch screen it is a copy of the iPhone? Look at Palm around 2002. Had a big touch screen too (although not capacitive, but to be fair Apple did NOT invent that technology.)

Do everyone a favour and shut the hell up and stop COPYING WHAT OTHER IDIOTS ARE SAYING. End rant.
