iPhone iPod touch 1.1.3 Hack for the rest of us

OK, truth be told, we hacked our 1.1.3 iPhone a few weeks ago - but it was a pain in the a$$. Took a few hours and we had to upgrade, downgrade, sidegrade etc. A lot of people who aren't as stupid/bored/daring have taken a pass on the 1.1.3 jailbreak until something easier came along. That something might be:

Zibri's ZiPhone

It is a one step jailbreaker...we are trying it now - more to come shortly...

Update - it went pretty smoothy. Remember to quit iTunes helper application, do the reset while you are putting it into the cradle and that it takes a little while. Have fun!

I see one comment on that site regarding the use on the iTouch and the guy's device "cannot be restored anymore"...

I can confirm that it works with a 3.0 Bootloader 8 GB iPhone.

Simply restored to 1.1.3 with iTunes, ran the Jailbreak and then the new anysim 1.3, because TurboSims don't work anymore, and I'm now happy in Germany.

Everything works. Even the google location goody.

I just used the 1.1.3 upgrade in Installer. I have a w39 unit without the locked down baseband or boot loader.

Basically I rolled the dice when iBrickr did not work, and the installer app worked fine.

Battery life in 1.1.3 is not as good. The shivering icons are lame. Google Maps has a little upgrade that does not work too well.

Over all, stick with 1.1.2 unless multi recipient SMS is a huge deal to you.

Wait til 1.1.4 is my advice.

I've unlocked a couple iPhones before and have a fairly basic understanding of firmware, versions, and modem firmware. However, this newest Ziphone jailbreak and unlock isn't quite as straightforward as many of the experts make it seem to be. It's a case of the experts forgetting what they once didn't know. It would be helpful for "the rest of us" struggling to make our iphones usable throughout the world to have some step-by-step instructions. Thanks.
