YellowSn0w works as good as it tastes
The New Year was supposed to bring with it the new, easy to use, SIM unlocking tool for iPhone. Dubbed YellowSn0w by its developers, it appears to have a few hiccups. Hopefully by my next trip to Europe, they'll have this sorted out.

This is great news. I won't need it for several months, so hopefully is will work smooth as graphite by the time I use it.
I hope it doesn't mess with software updates or apps, and vice versa. As much as I want the freedom to choose the best carrier for a particular location, the integrity and reliability of the platform is more important to me. I won't jailbreak or unlock if it's going to compromise the ability to run the latest OS.
I love the iPhone platform, but I'm turned off by the prevailing "locked to a carrier" mentality in the industry -- especially in the US. People argue that it allows the carriers to subsidize the cost of the hardware, but that makes no economic sense to me. Don't they have to recoup the cost of the subsidy in their service charges?
watch out where the huskies go and don't you eat that yellowsn0w!
