First WWDC banners posted

Flickr user adamjackson1984 looks like the first to post pictures of WWDC 2009 decor.  As you can see below, the major theme looks to be One Year Later.  Light Years Ahead which seems to refer to the tens of thousands of App Store applications put together by developers.

This seems to imply that the iPhone will be the focus of this year's event (again).

Yay, hyperbole!

I think it will be a sweet event, even when there are no new products, I still love Apple events. Something about them, they are charming. But I'm also waiting for new gadget ;)

New iphone...check
Tablet...check
Healthy Steve...check

im dreaming but i wish its gonna be a triple threat effect with the new iphone, new os and the tab

I think they need to start having a separate iPhone WWDC and Mac WWDC. Although I love me some iPhone, I miss hearing exciting new things about the Mac. I hope I'm wrong, but I'd bet the keynote is almost all about the iPhone and Snow Leopard gets a blip of a mention.

oh wow...posters...amazing

With that banner setting the theme for the event its safe to say there won't be too many new products debuted at the event.
The focus of WWDC seems to be on the apps and the app store.

That means to say the rumors of PA Semi not being able to design their custom iPhone chip in time may be true and that its going to be an updated Samsung processor for the new iphone.
So the guts of the new iphone will only be slightly updated plus the full release of iphone OS 3.0.
Thats going to be it really.

There won't be a surprise update to the iphone OS 3.0 that will allow full, true multi-tasking between several apps. Just that damn "push" notification crap.
They will probably save the PA Semi cool components till late next year when they might have a phone with LTE wireless tech for LTE networks and might announce their multi-carrier plan for the U.S.A then (AT&T and Verizon).

Also, there will probably be no tablet announced as its starting to look like next year for that too.

The only real surprise they might have on June 8th is having Steve Jobs himself do the presentation that way all the media attention will be on them and their products and totally NOT on the Palm Pre.

Oh yeah, and perhaps we'll see a close to finished version of snow leopard too.

While I have no doubt the focus of WWDC will be on the iPhone, I can't help but notice the signage is all about the apps and holds no references to the iPhone. What if Apple took some time, after talking about the app store and introducing the new iPhone, and would introduce an App Store for the Apple TV? I think an app store for the Apple TV would add a tremendous amount of value to the product.

New 30" cinema display i hope!!

A light-year is a measure of distance and not time!!!
i think these guys at Cupertino should know this by now!!!

apart from that i m waiting for the WWDC....

cheers!

I briefly considered their wording, and then rested on it not being incorrect.

You can just as well be miles ahead of the competition as you are years ahead of the competition. Given nothing further to indicate the state of mind in which the advertisement was developed, I see little reason to assume error when it is not the only plausible explanation.

Now, if they are lightyears ahead, this flashy statement is a no-brainer. Having started the race two years ago, they have covered more distance than somebody who is just approaching the starting line.

If they are years ahead, that would likely mean that their technology is more advanced. Given Palm's penchant for selling ancient technology like there's a retro market on the rise, this statement too would be a no-brainer. (Hello? Palm T|X, 3.5 years old, and still at the $300 it debuted at with 312 MHz, 128 MB, and 802.11b. I liked my PalmOS, but those specs are silly.)
