WolframAlpha hits the App Store for a whopping $50
WolframAlpha, the computational searchable database that went live as a website a few months ago is now an iPhone app. "Fantastic!" you might say. You'll take it? Just one thing though: It is $50! And it doesn't do much that the Web page doesn't. Is there something we dont understand here?

Gotta be a mistake
I don't know, Stephen Wolfram is pretty full of himself
To be fair, if you go to their site, they show some pretty interesting things you can do with the app. Obviously, if the above screenshots show the breadth of your imagination, then you have no use for a tool like this ;-)
Did you buy the app?
Well, the "Big Mac + fries + coke" is a search from Wolfram|Alpha themselves. I have no idea if that lessens or boosts the imagination of 9to5.
Also, my own imagination is failing miserably when trying to comprehend how the customized keyboard that the iPhone app adds compared to the website (on Safari/iPhone) can be worth $50.
Maybe you can enlighten us all? :-)
Decimal point in the wrong place.
Might get some good money before they correct it!

Probably not a mistake... Steven Wolfram is reputed to have a very large ego (according to one of my math professors, who had worked with him) and is most likely fairly out of touch with reality.
