TomTom car kit demoed with 1st Generation iPhone (and iPod touch?)

We first postulated that it was possible to use the iPod touch and original iPhone with the TomTom car kit (which includes a GPS module) back in August.  Mac4ever seemed to have confirmed this a month later, but Apple to this day only advertises that the iPhone 3G and 3GS are capable of using the TomTom kit.  Today the Gemans at iFun.de have YouTube proof (we think!) that the kit does work with original iPhones (and iPods?).

hhmmm, anyone tried a touch yet? also, wont itunes stop the transfer / purchase of a satnav app?

I've had the TomTom car kit for a few days now and can confirm that the ipod nano's do not fully work. They only charge using the car kit. The audio does not work through the TomTom car kit speakers because you need to set up a bluetooth connection - which the nano does not have. So in essence, it only charges the nano.

That is slightly incorrect. This is what Apple has on the product page for the Car Kit: "**Note: The TomTom app for iPhone is not included with this TomTom Car Kit. The Car Kit dock is compatible with all iPhone models, but the TomTom app only works with iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G"

From that, they are saying that only the app will not work on the original iPhone.
