Genius.  Effective.  But painful if you are on AT&T.  We're looking for a better looking Youtube - comment us if you see one.

A picture is worth a thousand... dropped calls... Oh Verizon, if you only had the iPhone i never would have left :-)

If AT&T really does have such horrible service as so many people say, then why on Earth would you pay upwards $100/month for their service? The iPhone is cool, but if the foundation it (unfortunately) runs on is so terrible, don't you feel like you're paying a lot of money for, well, a shoddy service?

Trust me, that Verizon map doesn't seem particularly accurate. I live in the Boston area and I get lousy service in my neighborhood.

But not surprisingly, the Verizon map makes all of Mass look "red". Where I come from, that just doesn't ring true.

I so agree. I have four cell phones so far I have moved two over to AT&T just for the iPhone.

From service to features to customer service AT&T is a third rate service.

Come on Verizon get on your knees, open your check book and get the iPhone.

haha

yeah thats a pretty direct attack, but if they didn't look all there phones down maybe people wouldn't leave them so quickly. working in cellphone sales i see people leave verizon all the time just to get an iphone it doesnt matter if they have to pay etf or get bad coverage, at least they have an iphone now.

well i have an iphone but with T Mobile , Im From Puerto Rico and our Data & Voice plans with At&t are so expensive and call dropings every time.... Verizon here is called CLARO PR but 3G isn't on their totally , here At& T its the law but ... a corrupted LAw

I will take an "OK" phone with brilliant capabilities any day. I think this shows that people aren't out to by a just a good phone connection.

iPhone = computer+phone+GPS+game console+MP3 player+camera+video recorder+not laggy. nothing like it.

I do think Verizon got a little carried away with erasing the blue off the map. I drive all over the country with very limited connection problems. Easy Verizon easy...

sometimes having a phone is about actually having a phone to use. Also the touch screen interface is something, while pretty damn cool, is limited in certain capacities.

So please don't get "carried away" there. Easy iPhoners easy...

@ "Mad-elph"

Adam Richardson that wrote that "opinion" piece is a well known C/Net Windows Fanboy, and this is a biased "opinion" write-up like always from him.

Most Educated informed Users take "Adam Richardson" with a grain of salt, the facts are RIM has drooped in-sales and is hurting and all this is a attempt to rejuvenate buyers for the holiday season.

Can't believe people Believe FUD written by paid for bloggers and so called opinion writers. Check out a number of different sources before writing a post to a delusional expose.

Like I said don't be to happy from an opinion blogger that is a well known to have a biased opinion. and fact are C/Net has never been to keen on Apple and has shunned them when they have the chance.

I will not defend the person himself. However what you fail to realize is that valid points to the faults of your beloved iPhone remain no matter who expresses them. He can be a fanboy or whatever but if he has valid arguments he is not polluted. Furthermore, if you have proof that he received cash from RIM then I will review my understanding of this article and its arguments. However if you rely on tenuous arguments about his fanboy status and a lasting impression of his allegiance to one platform over another, then you are no better than what you are expounding against. Cnet may or may not be Apple friendly, I've seen some praise form them in laptop analysis, but that doesn't mean issues they point out aren't valid. You are employing a common faulty right-wing style response whereby you attack the speaker instead of the comments he's making. Please check yourself before you wreck yourself.
RIM has actually increased in users this last term, as it has for almost every term since it came to the market. If it does have a decrease in users it may need a renewal, not unlike some companies. But it does still grow adding many 100 thousand subscribers all the time. Granted it has not grown as quick as the iPhone but this was another issue. It still has a greater market share than the iPhone.

Rumors then have spread since Apple's iphone was first introduced that Verizon might get is own version of the popular device and now? No wonder why Verizon did it. I fascinated iPhone and its glad to read in your post now that theyre getting to produce iPhones. This will force or motivate some to get installment loans just to get the newest model. If you wana learn more information about on how you can get money to purchase iPhone, see here: http://personalmoneystore.com/moneyblog/2009/09/30/installment-loans-4/

All that map shows is that AT&T has 80% of the population covered and Verizon has 85% covered. If Verizon wants to waste capital dollars on backwoods 3G, more power to them. However, if I was a stockholder, I'd be pissed.

Where is Verizon's map of iPhone 3G coverage? Oh, it's blank.

you would be happy to know that Verizon Wireless isn't a publicly traded company...so they don't have to answer to anyone....However, Verizon Communications (landline) is public..VZW is a company that has a partnership with Vodaphone...

this must be painfull for AT&T, using Apples genius commercial skills to pwn AT&T, good move by verizon.

But still, I´d choose AT&T over Verizon, the possibility of having the iPhone is priceless

I agree with your first point, but people don't choose AT&T over Verizon, they choose the iPhone over Verizon.

Here's your better YouTube: It's called Hulu.

Here's your better YouTube: It's called Hulu.

Except this blog has readers outside the US. It's on the global internet, not just the US internet! :)

So to use a US-only service like Hulu (when there are other options) is not only kinda rude to the non-US readers, it also ensures that there will be 20 people howling in the comments about the decision to choose a video service that is blocked for the rest of the planet.

Trust me, I'm one of them. Usually, I'll just shrug and move on. But sometimes I really wanted to see that clip. Now what, I have to go search for it on another site now? WTF? Link to something that ALL your readers can see, or at least provide an alternate link for the rest of the world

I think the AT&T map in the commercial is misleading. For example, it was announced back in May that AT&T would be acquiring network assets in Montana, North Dakota, and other western states, from Verizon, who was required to divest some assets in its takeover of Alltel. The map shows no coverage for AT&T in these states, which Verizon should know is false because they sold AT&T the capacity.

The maps in the commercial show 3G coverage. Yes, VZW had to divest some markets to ATT, but with the fact that ATT and VZW use different technologies to run their networks, it doesn't mean that by VZW giving away a market to ATT, that ATT now automatically has 3G coverage in that market now.

If you want to use WiFi or get a decent smartphone THERE IS NO APP FOR THAT on Verizon Wireless. The iPhone's 85,000 available apps is more apps than all of the smartphones Verizon allows on their big network combined!

Neutering and crippling phones has NOT been a great strategy for Verizon.

No Wifi on Verizon!!!!

Just saying something because it feels good does only proves it to yourself.

Verizon is probably using their most up to date map including areas under construction and comparing that to an out of date ATT map.

Verizon is comparing their "Voice" Coverage map with AT&T's 3G coverage map.

4th quarter of this year Verizon will have the iPhone.

First, you must remember that if you have the Iphone, you are
on a sub-part network called "Cingular." Second, you have to remember that this company has badly soiled the brand name "AT&T" for ever. Third, you must let go and acknowledge that you are on an atrocious network backed up by bad service.
Fourth, you must remember that if your work and livelyhood depends on good, consistent connectivity and services, brand name means nothing. Fifth, if on screen entertainment is all you do with your Iphone, disregard all of the above.

I got fed up and disconnected from "Cingular," but while arranging the closing of the account with a rep, I was suddenly cut off. Now, I happily use my Iphone for playing games only. There is nothing wrong with this I tell you.
