Apple now owns TabletMac trademark
We're filing this one in the "interesting but doesn't mean much" category. Apple sometime last year trasferred the "TabletMac" trademark from Axitron who make those Modbooks out of MacBooks. Keep in mind that Apple protects its trademarks pretty over-zealously. For instance, it made the iPodRip developer change is name to iRip because apparantly Apple owns the "Pod" name.

By now, (for better or worse) we're pretty sure Apple's tablet will be based on the iPod OS software. Therefore, TabletMac is only being protected to eliminate confusion over Apple's Mac brand.

This isn't "over-zealous" trademark protection. It is elementary trademark protection. Even the least practiced, most beginner IP lawyer should be able to tell you that.
I agree... that's a bold statement to be calling apple 'over-zealous' for trying to protect their trademarks
I totally agree haha, read a book before you blog something like that
Who has trademarked "iTab", "iPad", "iSlate", "MacTab","MacTablet", "MacPad", "MacSlate" BEFORE Apple?
With all the hype it should be called iMACLET.
If this is the future name, then we can expect at least one tablet model to run OSX and not just the iPhone/iTouch OS. I hope this is true!
I think Apple should bring back the Newton name in the form of this new tablet. I know Newton was just a platform, but the name still sounds pretty good to me.
