FoxNews: Event will be Tablet, iPhone OS 4.0 and iLife 2010
Is the Tablet unveiling not enough to get you excited? Well, FoxNews reporter Clayton Morris has a little more information on the event. According to his sources, not only will the tablet be unveiled, a whole new iPhone OS (4.0) and iLife suite will be revealed.
I spoke to a source at Apple this morning, before the invite hit my inbox, who said the event would likely focus on three projects: The tablet device, iPhone 4, and a new round of iLife 2010 software. While we won't see new iPhone hardware just yet, we will see the next-generation software.
The trio of products makes sense. You are going to need some apps on the tablet and what better way to start than with Apple's iLife suite? Also, word is that Apple's been holding up any releases of the iPhone OS because it contained references to the tablet. Obviously, once the tablet is revealed, Apple can continue releasing iPhone software, though Fox didn't specify whether or not it would be ready at the event or just shown off.

iLife 10! I Bloody hope not, I've just had to reformat 15 machines with iLife 09 2010 Demo content received only 4 days ago from apple.

With the soon-to-be released iPhone 4.0 software, I wonder what goodies lie in store for iPhone users. There is a lot of talk about the tablet (for which the new iLife is no doubt for), but a lot more people will benefit (at least in the short term) from improvements in the iPhone interface. A better way to navigate through the pages would be a start. How about a swipe that brings up a menu listing categories of apps? A swipe and a tap and you're there, rather than swipe, swipe, swipe. Darn, why did I put that app on page 10?! Multitasking? Interactivity to Apple apps? VoIP using 3G, anyone?
If it comes from Faux News, it has to be true. Next up, Jim Baker trapped in refrigerator eats his own foot.
I'm a bit of a newbie about all this stuff, can someone tell me whether this implies there will also be an OS upgrade for the ipod touch. Or do you think this upgrade will be specific to the phone.
