There is more evidence that shows that carbon dioxide levels rise AS A RESULT OF global warming, not the other way around as Mr. Gore advocates. Yes, the earth is warming. So are temperatures on ALL OTHER PLANETS in our solar system. To deny a common connection and assert coincidence is extremly anti-scientific.
Don't get me wrong: I'm a huge conservationalist and a proud "Light-Wad" when it comes to keeping our energy consumption down. But let's consider all the facts, regardless of what populists and pundits are espousing them. When the founder of the Weather Channel calls manmade global warming a myth (among countless other scientists), it's time to pause and listen to ALL the facts. Hm....I'm sorry but TV meterologists are probably the worst excuses of "scientists" ever, so really his comments on Global Warming mean absolutely nothing to the REAL scientific community. Sure, Al Gore wasn't completely right in his movie, he did a lot of connecting the dots, but sometimes connected the wrong dots. What he did do, and why, I believe he deserves the award, is make the Earth's population aware of the problem. Unfortnately your friendly, everyday news channels like to blame every really abnormally hot day on Global Warming, which in turn helps the critics poke fun at GW (global warming will make some parts of earth colder, btw). The problem is bigger and more long term than that but I assure you it is happening.

Seriously global warming is not caused by man. The earth has gone through natural warming and cooling cycles. If we are taking about keep our air clean I am for that, but global warming isn't something we are causing. Its like saying that me peeing in the atlantic ocean is going to cause a global water levels to rise.

The normal +/- 2.5 degrees C per century of variation (dT/dt) doesn't alarm you, but a 0.6 degree C rise in the 20th century does? Do I have that right? Which then begs the follow-on question of "who's in charge of setting the thermostat?" Someone who lives in Siberia, or someone who lives in Death Valley? The massive anomalies in the land measuring stations over the last half century (aka "urban sprawl," shown at http://surfacestations.org/odd_sites.htm) don't make you question the basic measurements? And no, I don't work for the oil companies. But I did once get a 3 cent per gallon discount at an Exxon station for paying cash. Does that mean I'm on their payroll?

where in the world did you hear that the temperature changes by 2.5C every century? it's nowhere near that...yes, the earths temperature varies cyclically - but the natural cycle's amplitude is NOTHING like what has happened in the past 50-100 years, as C02 and other greenhouse gases have accumulated...

The anti-global warming
The anti-global warming party is concerned about the "economy" but again, this is hypocrisy. A recent research by the CSIRO found that if the temperature were to increase by around 1~2C, the whole Great Barrier Reef would be dead. Now think about it- with the reef gone, there would be a substantial decrease in the number of tourists going to see the earth's largest reef ecosystem. Where would that place the local economy? In ruins. Multiply this by countless of other tourist attractions around the world and you have a financial nightmare.
Stop fighting- it's about protecting our natural environment for the good of all people.
