Vanna White loves the Slingbox on iPhone

Sometimes we think we are pretty cutting edge. We've downloaded the Slingbox App this week for iPhone and are proudly showing it around to our Luddite friends.  Turns out we aren't that cool.  Vanna White, of all people, already has Slingbox on her iPhone.  Wow.  No wonder Slingbox is the first $30 app to hit the top 10.

What's the appeal of this app? It only works on WiFi, and anywhere you have WiFi, you might as well use your laptop and be able to actually view the show at a usable size....

I do see the benefit of having sling on the iPhone

 I would like to see SlingMedia update the Canadian version of SlingPlayer so as to be able to use it over 3G and not just WIFI. Here in Canada neither Rogers or Fido (owned by Rogers) stop their customers from streaming data and don't have any issue with SlingPlayer to be used over the HSPA network. AT&T is not the only carrier selling the iPhone and SlingMedia should be letting their SlingBox customers decide what they want, not what AT&T believes SlingMedia's customers should get to use. Also it would be great for SlingMedia to offer it for free since a SlingBox is not a cheap investment for consumers.
