Slingplayer coming to iPhone/iPod touch?

ElectricPig.tv is saying that Sling is ready to build an iPhone-iPod touch client for its popular place shifting video and TV over the Internet hardware.  Obviously it won't work well over EDGE, but it will work over WiFi and eventually over 3G.  Their Sling source said:

iPhone and iPod touch are OS X devices, and we can write OS X apps with our eyes closed. It's coming.

We know the 3G iPhone's coming so that'll obviously be better. But for now the iPod touch could end up being the best way to use Slingplayer.

The iPhone-iPod makes sense as a fantastic platform for the Slingplayer.  However,  Apple might not want them on their platform for fear of interfering with iTunes TV shows.  Perhaps Sling can build a streaming Quicktime format with web controls that can be utilized through AJAX?

As Slingbox and iPhone owning expats, we can only say to Apple....Bring the Sling!

I refuse to buy an iPhone until this happens!!!!!

also you said:

"Obviously it won't work over EDGE, but it will work over WiFi and eventually over 3G."

but this is not true. Slingbox is a little pixilated over EDGE but it is still extremely capable of running on EDGE.

Slingbox + iPhone (3G?) = love :-)

It's not going to encode in

It's not going to encode in quicktime format. It's going to be done via 3rd party app. Just wait for the SDK announcement and watch the apps pour in.

I have both a slingbox and

I have both a slingbox and iPod touch and have been waiting for this for a long time. Me and colleagues have agreed that this will help sell iTouches/iPhones like wildfire! Kudos sling!

This app would be the final

This app would be the final straw that would make me get an iPhone.  Maybe even before 3G

c'mon, how long is this

c'mon, how long is this going to take to get working?  i mean, sling works on windows mobile devices, what's the big deal?  plus, i would still purchase shows on itunes, those are the shows i don't watch or record on tv anyway.  i'm seriously getting too excited for being able to watch recorded shows, fast forward through commercials, all on a gorgeous touch screen anywhere there's a solid wifi and eventually 3G (come on apple, release the 2.0 iPhone already!!).  but i would seriously buy an iPhone right now if it was sling compatible...oooohhhhh....
