All it takes now is a easy and painless approval process by Apple's App Store people and we'll all be enjoying our home cable wherever we are*.

*easy and painless is sarcasm, wherever we go means wherever there is Wifi as AT&T won't allow video traffic over 3G.

that took Sling forever. The iphone was released in 2007, and the formal API released in early 2008, and only now they're getting around to their first release? Did they have 50% of one new iPhone developer workjng on it or what?

One trick if you're running late: submit a bad build to Apple, have them stuggle and reject it, and then blame Apple for futher delays, buying you more time. Genius!

It seems that Sling doesn't see much revenue from the mobile handheld platform.

actually, sling had a working prototype on June 8, 2008 (google "iphone sling proof on concept", you'll see a video) this was within days of the SDK's release.

From what I've heard, from "unofficial" sources, is they were developing a lower-bandwidth streamer so AT&T would approve it for over-the-air use, not just WiFi.

Here's hoping, i have my $29.99 ready!

I was using the slingplayer client on my Samsung Blackjack II until 2 months ago when I switched to the iphone. Worked great over 3G. Are you saying AT&T won't allow video over 3G specifically on the iphone?
