UPDATED: September 9th is official: "It's only rock and roll, but we like it"
It may not be a Beatles line or a Hendrix line (it's a Stones line) but the September 9th event is now official. Apple sent invites out to the tech journalist community today. The event will again be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco at 10AM PST.
UPDATE: In keeping with previous years, Apple this morning confirmed there will be a simultaneous European press/industry briefing held in London on the same date, with the keynote presentation streamed via satellite to attendees at the invite-only event.
Remember, 9to5mac will have live coverage (video again hopefully) so come join us for the festivities. Photo iPods for everyone!

Hell Yeaaaaah!!!
good, it's official now...
yay! it will probably be all about iPods... but that is cool!
The good thing is that if anything relates to the iTunes Store (which it likely will) then it could tie into the AppleTV, iTunes software (or new software) and even their computer line.
Awesome... a four year old iPod. Thanks? ;)
Apple just OKed a Spotify app, which is already generating more money than iTunes in Sweden. So how about opening iTunes up so you can download as much as you want for a subscription ??
looks like hes holding a touch 3rd gen.
I believe you mean she.
or it could be a He-She.
He?
The Rolling Stones did the music for the old iMac 'Colours' ad (She's a Rainbow) so I don't think it's unfeasible that they may appear at the event, probably launching 'Cocktail'. I don't think it'll be much more than that behind the slogan.
iPods with cameras just reminds me of that Simpsons episode: "People are afraid of new things. You should have just taken an existing product and put a clock on it or something."
If iTunes 9 appears and it lets me arrange my home screen apps, that will be enough for me!
oh man, i'm a Mac user and i don't know about this? what is this?!
where do i join them at?
basically this is a hint that it will only be about iPods and not the tablet, hence the "only rock and roll" but if we will like it then it should have some sweeeeeet updates!
I would have to say that it is interesting that apple is going back to their shadow with an ipod thing for this notice. This makes me think that they may be updating the ipod itself, and making it into a more iphone like device, but that's just me. Also, it seems to me that the device the person is holding is most likely an ipod touch or another version of an ipod because the cord is coming out the bottom of the item!
Good call with the "earphone jack on the bottom" spot. We're gettin' an updated ipod Touch.
yeah, finally the iPod Touch G3 comes!!!!!! :)))

i wasnt aware that for several years apple has held a simultaneous event in london.
Yeah, I've been going to these for around four years, perhaps more.
Don't you find it interesting that the beatles' albums will be re-released (remastered) on September 9th as well?

"But the jewel in Mr. Bandier’s crown is Sony/ATV’s ownership of the rights to more than 250 Beatles songs. Next month, the digitally remastered Beatles albums will be released the same day as the introduction of “The Beatles: Rock Band,” an interactive video game that will allow players to relive some of the group’s greatest performances.
“The fourth quarter will belong to the Beatles,” Mr. Bandier predicts."
