Safari 3.1 blowing up
According to Net Apps, the Safari browser is blowing up on the Windows platform... to the tune of three times its last month of total of marketshare. No doubt in large part due to (un)equal parts coming out of beta, the great reviews and Apple's somewhat questionable strategy of slipping the application into the iTunes software update.
When you are playing on Microsoft's field, you have to play by Microsoft's rules....or when in Rome?

but...still not even 1/4 of 1%...
In the web development shop of my company, I noticed that all the Windows users were using Safari.
I found it odd, so I asked what was going on. They said they find it easier and faster to use Safari for their work.
You gotta realize that web developers working on windows will use Safari so they don't feel quite as lame as their friend's working on mac.
Web devs are fashion whore wannabes. ;-)
Safari 3.1 is also more standards compliant than IE7 and comes with a handy Develop menu which has various User Agents (Opera, Firefox, IE, etc).
How many users is .21% and how many users got pissed off at the delivery mechanism? Did they break even on that?
Safari rocks the Winblows.
Ya those numbers are just probably me, using Safari in Vista and XP on my Mac, and the countless other people I have switched over on Windows.
Just saying...
It's blowing up alright. Crashes nearly everytime I use it. Worst browser I've ever used. This report smells like bullshit.
They might have downloaded it but I'll bet they didn't use it much once it crashed a few dozen times a day on them. Most Mac users don't even like Safari for that reason. The Windows version is even worse.
I found it to be clean, fast and stable. I do still use Firefox for some questionable sites because I feel a little safer with the NoScript and AdBlock plugins running.
Others in the office seem to like running Safari also.
One guy had a crash on his machine, but after finding Explorer crashing too it turned out his machine was full of malware.
We've got higher adoption at our office since everyone has an iPod or iPhone (and has iTunes installed) because some of our training materials and report summaries are distributed as podcasts.
For some time safari was slow for me, but it never crashed unlike firefox 3. And it doesn't freeze up as often as firefox or IE. It is really fast. I don't see some of yalls problems. It's probably your computers not as fast enough (though mine is not even 1.5 gigahertz, and not a mac).
