Safari 3.2 update fixes bugs, prevents phishing
Safari 3.2 was updated a few minutes ago with not too much in the excitement department. Safari 3.2 is mostly a security and bug fix release as far as Apple's KB is concerned. You can upload from Software update or get a brand spanking new version here.
Initial tests show not much in the way of speed gains. Anyone else notice anything unusual? From Apple:
This update is recommended for all Safari users and features protection from fraudulent phishing websites and better identification of online businesses. This update also includes the latest security updates.

Warning on the Safari 3.2 update—Don't do it. My attempt was corrupt code and dmg did not mount correctly and the spinning beach ball of death ensued. Twice I tried, could not delete it out of the trash, Screwwed up the Safari I had so it would not launch but bounce in the dock endlessly. I also tried to download a complete version of Safari 3.2 and same thing. I had to force quite the computer, secure empty trash and restore Safari from Time Machine, geez buggy I guess.
I would say in a day or two they will have this glitch fixed for the disk image to mount properly. I have to admit to being an early adopter and there in lies the downside. Still too early for it to hit the discussion boards. I know you like your Safari- so don't risk it yet, one more headache, my 2¢ anyway.
To fix that all you have to do is:
1) Close any and all safari opening process/windows and quit safari
2) delete it off ur dock
3) open safari using spotlight or going directly to the application
4) replace it on your dock
That would fix the bouncing endlessly problem
as far as instaling 3.2 idk what to tell u... mine went over fine...
No problems for me, update went flawlessly.
Mac Leopard and Win XP versions (Parallels Virtualised) without a hitch
I find that the memory used in Safari just keeps growing - starting at about 100MB and rapidly past the 400MB line. I then clear the cache manually to bring it back down to around 200-250MB but can't get it lower. (I'm using Activity Monitor to get this info). After a while, the blue bar at the address line doesn't go to the end, but just stays part way along the bar. Then some pages seem to take forever to load. Despite this, it still seems to work most of the time - except when I try to print a PDF straight from the screen, when it usually crashes Safari. So I have to save the PDF to hard drive, then open and print. Otherwise everything's fine. Will try to update to 3.2 shortly.
