The Quake on iPhone project is coming right along...Apparantly you can find this application on Cyndia...We are checking the Apps store daily for this one to go legit...
Why on earth wouldnt the accelerometers be used to move forward/left right with a left upper touch as jump and left lower touch as crouch. Right upper being shoot and right lower being change weapon?
Either poorly thought out here or bogus. You lose half the screen with your fingers. Silly. There are much better things I like to do with my fingers instead of having them cover my iPhone! :)
it looks a lot like it was intended for the icontrolpad....well see when that gets released. And to the website, 9to5mac, you call yourselves apple-savvy but still haven't jailbroken a 2.0 iPhone/iPod touch?????? The app is on cydia btw.
Played it on my Jailbroken iPhone 1, running 2.0 SW. Seems to work fine and it's cool to play the game again, but the whole control thing is rubbish. You lose about 50% of the screen in total, whereas if the tilt was used it would make things way easier. Access to the console would also be nice via the virtual keyboard.
As a proof of concept it is cool though - Who knew, back when I needed a high end Mac to run this game at full framerate, I would one day be messing with it on my mobile phone? Amazing.

Yeah, it's legit
You have to get this through Cydia. It plays nicely.
If I didn't get motion sickness from games like this, it would be a must have.
Not Legit

Why?
Yes why wouldn't the developers use the accelometer for strafing left and right and moving forward and backward? The demo looks so very clumsy...

Controls let it down
