New Apple Patent details push button antenna
Patently Apple details a new Apple patent which utilizes a push button antenna to "ensure high-quality wireless transmission and reception." They note:
Although the antenna could be based on a push button design, it may also be designed to be activated via an icon on your media device UI.
That's certainly an interesting feature. Should you enter New York City with your 4G iPhone, perhaps the OS activates the antenna to hop on a weak AT&T signal?
Patently Apple wonders if this design might hint at television signal usage as well. Many more illustrations here.

Apple usually patents dumb shit like this just to cover their ass. I don't think this will ever see the light of day. First off, no matter what implementation to use, it's gonna look ugly. And Apple doesn't do ugly.
I read somewhere that antennaes on mobile phones don't do anything. Some older phones with pull-out antennaes aren't even hooked up to anything inside the phone....it's just a psychological thing that makes the user think they're getting clearer calls. Jeez, I wish I had bookmarked that article.
This just gave me an idea for a knob based antenna, where you turn it to "ensure high-quality wireless transmission and reception." Patent Office, here I come.
I think this will be found in future iPhone. Probably, the Home button will include a hidden antenna like this. As long as it is hidden and has great reception, it would be good for us.
This is for people who were dumb enough to enter a multi-year contract without first testing to see if the service would satisfy their needs.Clicking the button will help them feel more satisfied.
It's the antenna that is in the iPod nano for the FM radio. Uses the earphone wire and jack as antenna, and probably the hold switch to complete the circuit. Old patent. Filed in 2006.
Could be for LTE... read somewhere that LTE 4G phones may need external antennas.
Either that or it could be to solve AT&T reception problems :)

Hi,
A large number of older and newer BlackBerry phones are not supported at all, lending some relief to those wondering if living inside Apple's big tent is worth it.
What is it for? Probably about $899
High Quality Wireless transmission will be there with the help of this Antenna. This will result in Customer Satisfaction.
