More Palm Pre Pr0n

OK, we are just a bit too intrigued by this little Pre thing. Here's Peter Skillman, VP of Design at Palm, Inc. showing why he's so proud of the WebOS. Notice the Snappiness™ of that ARM Cortex processor and the Amazon Music store at 3:20.  MobileDivide via Engadget.

Although he is saying Nokia N95, about no one is fooled that the iPhone is the real competitor for this device.  We hope Apple answers a lot of these features in iPhone OS 3 in June?

"..Booom.."

That magnetic dock is cool but if the back has a gloss finish it'll ruin it in days! The UI owes everything to Apple and the iPhone though!

But its sorta like how a ferrari owes everything to the Ford model T.
You couldn't have a supercar if it wasn't for the first car.

To be fair, the iPhone interface owes a lot to the original Palm Pilot.

It does owe ANYTHING to Apple & the iPhone!
Look at the article on similarities between the Apple & Palm patents you uneducated nitwit! Palm has had a TOUCH interface with 100's of patents dating back to 1992!!

Get off the Apple wagon & realize that the iPhone is NOT God's gift to you & your zombie crew of Apple worshippers.

I freakin love Apple, don't get me wrong, but they're just as 'monopolizing' and 'selfish' as Microsoft!

You make me sick to have such NARROW-MINDED comments!!

What an idiot

r u havin' crack withdrawl?

the palm owes a lot (just about anything that's good) to the newton.

I liked the garage band music...

great comment dude, it really has everything to do with the present discussion. Thanks for your opinion.

The music at the begging and end were made in garage band.

See how big that swipes are that he makes, you point somebody's eyes out if you have that phone

it looks like palm is coming out with a really nice phone. can't wait to read the first "real" reviews.

This makes me hopeful for a major iPhone refresh in June/July.

because you had a doubt about that?

"miniusb port for itunes sync"

did I miss something? Is it going to be itunes syncable?

With iTunes plus and the no more DRM thing you will be able to put iTunes music on any device that can support the audio format.

Not legally.

Edit: Sure, it could look inside your iTunes Music folder and grab stuff from there, but you won't be able to sync it via iTunes.

it is beyond me how anyone that has been using an iPhone, or simply aware of how it works and what it is capable of, can even be slightly intrigued by the 'pre' having seen what it does... underachieved, thick plastic ugliness and years late. this pr0n is not giving me a chubby, sorry.

Get over it. The iPhone is nowhere NEAR being an actual smartphone -it's pushed for the 'basic' user and lacks a LOT of features that have been useful for business & advanced use!

Just stop being a one-way watcher!

What is the iPhone missing for business and advanced use? I use it exclusively for my business phone (I am a road warrior who flies ~150 flights a year). It can do things I only dreamed of with my Windows Mobile. You know, crazy stuff like open a Word doc!

I can also easily VPN back to out intranet, check our internal sites in a real browser to get info. I can RDP, telnet, SSH, VNC, etc to any server or workstation. I can't do that as easily with any other "smart" phone.

It syncs with push for Exchange and has a global address list, something Windows Mobile does not have.

My IT does not require a Blackberry server for me to use my phone. +1

Can you please explain how the iPhone is a "basic" smart phone?

hi little kev,

for the moment, you don't have your little 'pre'-mature pr0n-ware to play with... you'll just have to play with yourself in the meantime. if you need some help just ask!

if this is what it means to like Macs and be an Apple fan, then I think I'd rather shove my face in a blender.

I'm glad to see the previous guy is able to use his iPhone for his business use -I know quite a few people that are part of companies that are not able to implement the iPhone as a 'good' source...so groovy for you...

As to Mr Play-With-Yourself... YOU didn't have the iPhone for months before either, but I remember all sorts of forum activity on how amazing it was...yet wasn't...when it was released.

All I'm saying is there is PLENTY of room for HEALTHY COMPETITION that will push the other to create the ALWAYS-NEXT-BEST-THING!!!

Apple is GREAT at innovation, I'm NOT denying that...but so are MANY other companies!!

Get over yourself

Are you offering to masturbate him? You sick bastard, this isn't the place for stuff like that!

why is 9to5Mac becoming 9to5Pre-mature orgasm/give me a hackintosh OH MY GOD I'M COMING comedy? so boring!

are they really thinking that while apple is suing them for the whole IP stuff they are going to implement the pre into itunes?? Are they allowed?? can they just do that??

Apple aren't suing.

I like what I'm seeing, can't wait for some in-depth reviews.

On a side note, he's lying bad about the numeric keyboard on the qwerty keyboard, I've seen that just about everywhere, I don't know what he's on about. One that comes to mind is the Xperia.

he said palm was the first, no the palm pre. i think it was the palm treo that had it first.

I love this. The Pre looks great, especially compared to what's out there. The OS looks very good for a change. Maybe not as slick as OS X, but very very good nonetheless. Much better than their other offerings. It's a real competitor for the iPhone, I think I would prefer the Pre over the iPhone since it's not tied to iTunes, lets me sync via standard usb (assuming it will mount as a USB device too) and has a much better camera.

Multitasking....i want one now!
