Yeah, of course even with its 2.0 glitches, the iPhone still is the best you can get...it would really be nice to see some worth competition for the iPhone however.  As much as we like the idea behind the OpenMoko, it doesn't appear to be the iPhone killa....

Honestly, this makes that latest FSF announcement look even more ridiculous.

Free?? It costs twice as much as the iphone and operates on ONE gsm band (850 or 900).

It's not free as in "no charge" because stuff obviously costs money. The notion propelling this is free as in "liberty" because it is Free and Open Source.

 All my iPhones (Edge and 3G models) have annoying slow UIs with the latest firmware, but the interface still shines compared to that openmoko dinosaur.

re: stylus needed, my friend was checking out my iPhone the other day and commented he wished it came with a stylus because the keys were so small.

It would be stupid to give up on the phone now, it's a Developer's version!

As in "the product is not finished"

It's annoying to read so many posts about the openmoko and having people believe this is the finished product...

Wow, comparing an iPhone to an openMoko mobile is as funny as a professional boxer killing a 9yr old school girl. It must make you feel sooo good to have such a superior phone...

Actually, it does make me feel good to have an iPhone. The sun shines brighter, the air is fresher, my clothes are cleaner, and the birds sing sweeter. The iPhone makes everything better. Don't be a hater 'cause you didn't get one yet. They're making more.

First of all
the phone is not called openmoko but neo freerunner
openmoko is the name of the framework/distribution/software/marketing company behind the phone (which is produced by fic)

the mentioned keyboard is not the standard one
you used an old and unmaintained version of the openmoko framework
everyone who uses a neo freerunner knows that the software is not ready for endusers
but each day you could see a huge progress forward
the community is part of the developing process and that is why the phone is so interesting

openmoko and apple aim at different markets with thei phones
