Obama supporters now have iPhone application

Landing Page of Obama '08 appOK McCain supporters, we promised you an McCain Apple story and failed.  Turns out those tech savvy Obama whippersnappers have come up with an iPhone application that is pretty durn cool...if you are into that sort of thing.  The Obama '08 Application(iTunes link) is available from the app store and has a flurry of features for those actively supporting Obama:

  • Call Friends: A great volunteering tool that lets you make a difference any time you want by talking to people you already know. Your contacts are prioritized by key battleground states, and you can make calls and organize results all in one place.
  • Call Stats: See nationwide Obama '08 Call Friends totals and find out how your call totals compare to leading callers.
  • Get Involved: Do more. Find and contact your local Obama for America HQ.
  • Receive Updates: Receive the latest news and announcements via text messages or email.
  • News: Browse complete coverage of national and local campaign news.
  • Local Events: Find local events, share by email and get maps and directions.
  • Media: Browse videos and photos from the campaign
  • Issues: Get clear facts about Barack Obama and Joe Biden's plan for essential issues facing Americans.
 

As a peace offering, here's a clip of John Stewart and Bill Maher both supporting McCain (@1:00) over Al Gore.  Oh the humanity!

Anyone else having problems with this app? It keeps crashing when I click on Issues or Media.

Same problems here. It crashes when I click on news, media, issues etc. Maybe it does not really work well on an iPod touch.

I did an iPod restart, sync, re-download of the app: it keeps crashing.

The media and issues sections crash cause they are trying to prevent you from knowing the truth.

I find it odd that so many "Tech" people support Obama/Biden when Biden is one of the people who want to put restrictions on internet access. Why this App is completely "non-patriotic". <--Biden pun intended.

But honestly....if you care about your country and want to do your patriotic duty to her, you will vote for Ron Paul.. <--another Biden pun ha ha...

Just look. Such a technologically advanced candidate that released this slick app, compared to a candidate who reportedly couldn't release an app even if it was just an email meassage!

What Kool Aid are they passing out to the partisan supporters? Let me guess, Obama, during all his campaigning wrote an iPhone application (sarcasm). One spent money on creating an application.

WTF? This is almost as useless as an iPhone flashlight. Who in the hell at Apple thought apps supporting political campaigns were a good idea for the App Store? Now we're going to have to sift through all these stupid apps that are prepared to flood the store. It's bad enough that these bastards are permitted to call me and interrupt my day with ignorant recorded messages. Thanks tons for starting this trend you fanatic Obama supporters.

Wow, you really ARE an idiot. Why should Apple screen out political apps someone else developed and submitted? How does the mere existence of this app in the App Store adversely affect you? And trust me, those of us NOT in swing states aren't particularly thrilled that once again, we have to rely on you boneheads to get it right on Nov. 4...
