Apple takes down NVIDIA Update... why?

Apple today took down last week's NVIDIA firmware update for MacBook/Pro/Air.  The update didn't fix the issues with the Dual Link DVI adapter on 30 inch displays, and furthermore, we've received word that some users with 15-inch Unibody MacBook Pros have reported speaker popping since installing the update.  We've also heard that external displays are flickering or not working at all.  While we've felt no such pain, there was obviously enough out there for Apple to pull the update.  Apple, uncharacteristically,  has issued no statement..

when talking about the unibody laptops shouldn't you have a picture of one....not the previous model

sorry, mushroom clouds trump accuracy

Boom.

doh!

Funny, I just went to the Apple Store for that very reason (audio popping), although I've had the problem since I bought it two months ago.

What did the Apple Store tell you? I have it as well. It seems to be consistently reproducible when I run the FallOut2 Demo on the 9600 chip.

I have the popping sound as well, and had it before the update as well... and i've also had the flickering of my screen, but only once.

Anyone else seem to be getting the beachball a lot after the update too?

I've noticed a lot of system lag after those updates.

And no reason to be laggy either! 2.53/4GB/138GB left free on the HDD

Anyone else?

Yep, my unibody MBP seems to have lost some of it's "snapiness" since the upgrade.

For the books ....Finally I got my mini Displayport- DualLink DVI Adapter yesterday and without having installed the NVIDIA update mentioned, my MBPro15" worked flawlessly with the 30" Cinema Display ...

installed the update here and nothing to report....no popping audio and no system lag....a little more snappines when playing mkv content using the 9600 , perian and quicktime.

I installed it and noticed some popping on windows, mostly when I was using the trackpad. But then it worked fine ... it's been 6 days i got my mac, do you think I should return it?
