Would love iWork for iPhone but...
I think the closest we'll come to a surprise is the announcement of a lesser iPhone.
The product I want most is a Mac that I can use in meetings -- no flip-up screen, silent. A giant iPod Touch sort of device might meet my needs, if it comes with business-oriented apps.
In any case, I think MW holds nothing of interest for me personally. I got my new MacBook Pro last time, so I'm happy. I hope others get what they've been waiting for this time.
Steve Jobs
I very much doubt we will see Steve as he is being treated for Hormone Imbalance :-( Hope all goes well.
The Biggest Surprise
The biggest surprise will be the announcement that no one is anticipating. If I knew what that was, it wouldn't be a surprise.
The biggest surprise to many
The biggest surprise to many people will be that there won't be that many surprises. The rumors always raise anticipation to outrageous levels and then reality dashes hopes against the rocks. Just enjoy whatever is announced and don't whine because they didn't release a new 47" iMac for $399.00.
Big News = No News
I think Phil will show the following:
[a] how well Apple is doing in terms of installed base across desktop, notebook and phones plus keeping hold of marketshare and mindshare with iTunes Store;
[b] basic revisions of consumer-orientated hardware [iMac, Mac Mini] and software [iWork and iLife] but everything is evolutionary not revolutionary;
[c] update on Snow Leopard showing how much faster hardware will be with the new OS. In other words, by a MacBook now because when you put Snow Leopard on it in 6 months it'll be like getting a new computer all over again.
I'm expecting to see a lot of 3rd parties showing off what they're doing on the existing platforms rather than any super duper new ones...
... and I hope to be proved really wrong tomorrow!
I'd guess a price cut across
I'd guess a price cut across the range might be possible. What with the economy being what it is, Apple might not be able to afford to keep selling their products as such high prices if they want to keep the market share they've gained in the last 10 years.
Something's coming...
folks in the know are saying something big is coming that there haven't been any rumours about, but they can't say what it is...frustrating, I know, but I thought I'd drop that in there.
Home Server
I voted home server.
I would love one, but at this point I do not believe that Apple will ever make one, hence if they role one out I will be surprised!
what on earth is a home
what on earth is a home server ? "home" to me means "consumer". "server" means business/pro. Where are these 2 concepts supposed to meet ?
Discontinued HDD Based
Discontinued HDD Based iPod!
LCD iMac!
Not sure... Something better surprise me, or I'm not reading these rumor blogs anymore.
"LCD iMac"? You'll be
"LCD iMac"? You'll be excited to see the iMac G4 then. ;)
oops!
LOL I keep typing that, meant to say LED. My bad. =)
Any one of these would be a
Any one of these would be a surprise, because I don't think any of them is going to happen. :)
The Big Surprise
Apple is going to announce a push into the enterprise.
Clues:
Apple is downplaying its corporate CEO to look more like a big business
Apple is developing Snow Leopard, which is targeted at the enterprise
Apple is withdrawing from trade shows
Enhanced Enterprise support - indeed!
In case no one was looking, Apple has implemented MacRuby, an OS X native version of the Ruby platform. This raises the popular scripting language to the level of AppleScript for the kinds of automation that businesses like to do. At the same time, AppleScript 1-2-3 (the new book) for the first time presents AppleScript as an object oriented language. Earlier AppleScript references sort of hid the real power of AppleScript for OS X. I expect to see a lot of new Mac development in the coming year.

Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs comes on stage instead of Phil Schiller, and announces, "Fooled you!"
Still no new 17-inch MacBook
Still no new 17-inch MacBook Pro !:+(
Sometime in 2009
1 Netbook - If they don't announce one tomorrow I am buying
a Lenovo or HP. I would pay a premium to buy an Apple
2 iTunes user interface for movies is way confusing and
can't hold candle to NetFlix. Apple can do better than
this. They should separate music from video in iTunes
3 Beefed up Apple TV / Home Server - they will address this
in 2009. Maybe somehow include this in a decent PC so we
don't need two machines - this would be a chart buster
