SkatePhone? iSkate? Touchgrind...
Just heard from an Apple insider about this game, Touchgrind. "This is going to be huge," our source enthused.
We think it looks promising...you are the skateboarder, your fingers are your legs - you got to flip, skip and jump to get the high score - check the clip and a little more about the game straight after...
"Illusion Labs brings you the world's first true multi-touch game for the iPhone. The board is controlled by using finger gestures similar to the legs and feet of a real skater.
"The dynamic and innovative controls together with the game being built on a high quality physics engine gives the players a high degree of freedom to come up with their own tricks."
You also get your own level editor, so you can share your own tracks - game ships in October. We think it's kind of cool.

As a skateboarder I was intrigued but after watching the demo I can tell this game will be fun for about 5 minutes and then get quickly repetitive.
With a birds-eye view like this, how are you supposed to see where you're going? Can you grind on a ledge or a handrail? If all you can do is flat-land tricks then how fun can it be in the long run? There didn't seem to be that many tricks you could even do.
There is great potential for a skate game on the iPhone but this doesn't appear to be it.
I'm also a skateboarder and agree with the comments made by Surya. As a skater it's quite annoying to watch as the actual shape of the skateboard in the clip is a really weird shape! The nose and tail pretty much look like someone has sawn them flat. If the developer is hoping to have any actual skate credibility then you'd think they'd have actually bought a proper skateboard and got the shape right! Also, a real skateboard would have a really hard time riding over all that rubbish that seems strewn over the ground! It would probably stop dead at the drain it rides over in the first 3 seconds of the clip. If the developer does want any advice, leave some comments/question and i'm sure people will try and answer them - i've skated for 20 years, and run a skateshop for the past 9 so have a pretty good idea what i'm talking about!
Looks like another game that is fun for about a minute.
I bored of that game already just from watching the demo.
How come the "rider" never crashes? Where's the challenge?
I've been waiting for a skateboarding or snowboarding game for the iPhone/iPod touch. I won't judge this game until I play it, but I really hope the developer worked with an actual skater while designing this game.
Whats up with the birds-eye view?! As some ppl have been saying, how are you sposed to see where you're going?!
eh. cool idea. I think it could be done better, sure, and i hope someone will.
But- I'll get it. Looks entertaining. -you guys complaining about realism...... Tony Hawk anyone???? thats real???
