Latest iPod nano (mock-up) revealed
We've all been waiting for it, we all know they're in the pipeline, and while we don't want to speed up time (cos you can't roll it back) we're looking forward to what September will see falling from the Apple tree. .. could these be the products that we see?

These are just the latest and greatest set of (made up) pictures showing you just what could be on its way, cf. Digg Founder Kevin Rose. You know - goodbye short and stubby iPod nano, hello return of the new longish model, with a sideways screen, ho yus...
So - is this the face of the all new iPod nano? Short answer, no, but it's possible they aren't that far off the mark. Being Apple of course, who really knows?

About the curved front (and therefore screen) also how in this mock up would the clickwheel rotate also so that the writing changes when its lengthways? But pretty looking anywho

i thot i saw this on youtube.

This whole sideways screen thing makes me very damn nervous. It's not an idea I've liked in devices of that shape before (It works on iPhone/iPod touch because the controls are digital and rotate with the screen). It could work, if Apple rotates the click wheel like in that mockup. Still, I think they should just scale down the iPod classic and keep it ruthlessly thin.
I'll just have to see this play out when the real thing gets released. For one thing, the short and stubby iPod Nano has a really small screen on it, so they would have to return it to the longish model. This would probably give more space for memory as well. On the other hand, it would be sort of awkward with the screen to one side. The iPod Touches and the iPhone really champion the sideways screen well because they're just encased screens anyway. I think the best thing to do would just have an iPod touch nano in that case. Then again, only Apple knows...
I'll agree
Except it's going to be aluminum. Every tube-shaped iPod that's ever existed is aluminum (2G shuffle, mini, 2G nano), and with the eco-friendly push Apple has had the past couple years… it's going to be aluminum.
With the added space maybe a larger 1.8" hard drive?
the clickwheel area is unnecessarily large
If it's anything like this it will be a waste of R&D time. Because this is nothing more than a bigger 2G one. The nano needs something radical to change to make it worth updating after a year of the stubby one being out. Especially as so many people have bought the stubby one. Apple won't bother with a whole event unless its really worth it anyway.
I think that the nano and touch will simply get color upgrades and be changed to anodized aluminum backs. I found it odd last year that they switched the nanos from all aluminum back to the horrid chrome back. I guess it was just to give you a reason to buy the 'new and improved' one this year.
As to the nano-with-a-bigger-screen idea, it's called an iPod touch. Big screen for widescreen videos + flash memory.
A reliable source told me that the screen will be a wide screen which will take up 2/3 of the iPod, and the bottom will have a wheel like the current iPod Nano, that size, it will have back light controls Play, back, foreword, etc... and it will have an accelerometer and when yo turn it sideways the back light controls will then change position and the iPod will be working with the click wheel the way you see it.
just a small screen with touch enabled, no controls, no wheels, unnecessary.
I'm stunned, that IS a beauty!
NO..NO..NO..NO>>
The next generation ipod nano will be exactly like the touch but a smaller version of it. Mark my words.
looks more like a LG product than an apple one.
hope that poster above is right... mini-ipodtouch would be sweeet
