Forget Snow Leopard for Mac: I Want it for iPhone!Thu, 08/14/2008 - 20:36 — Michael Kahn
As most of you probably know, Snow Leopard is the next version of Mac OS X, and is going to bypass major new features, and instead will focus entirely on stability and speed. Of all the choices Apple has made as a company, I respect them the most for this decision. Leopard had some pretty big bugs when it launched, and while it is generally stable now, it still could be improved. Snow Leopard will be the perfect springboard to make the OS speedy and stable in the years to come, and it also will be highly compelling for Windows Vista users to switch over from the dark side. As I have said many, many, many, many times before, I have had some serious bugs with iPhone 3G: so serious that I, the most avid of fanboys, have considered switching to a cheap flip phone for a month or so, until the bugs are ironed out. During yesterday’s daily 5 hours without a phone, I was thinking about Snow Leopard for Mac, and then it hit me: maybe we’ll see it on iPhone 3.0 first? After all, iPhone is running Leopard, and was running it before the desktop version came out, so wouldn’t it make logical sense for iPhone to get Snow Leopard sometime early next year? If it got Snow Leopard, it undoubtably would make the phone much more stable, which isn’t just welcome at this point: its needed. Also, it would be great for speed, as I’ve noticed the startup time is extremely slow now, as are application load times. What do you think? Will the iPhone 3.0 Software be Snow Leopard? And if so, will we see it on the iPhone before Snow Leopard comes out, or after? Sound off in the comments. Michael is a teen blogger for 9 to 5 Mac, and has his own blog, Mac Soda.

Snow Leopard on iPhone
I do believe that many of the updates that are being made to Leopard will filter back down into the iPhone, but I don't think we'll see the iPhone version come out any sooner. Apple is going to want to release both of them together because many of the features on the phone may rely on the operating system version. For example, developing certain applications in xcode.
Except for a few application crashes, and a little bit of freezing on the keypad, my iPhone experience has been 99% heaven, and I'm sure there are many others out there who feel the same. Also, my Mobile Me free trial has been extended to 5 free months, and I haven't had any problems with Mobile Me either. It seems a lot of people complain about irrelevant little nothings and seem to overlook the big picture. They cough up a little bit of money and then expect you to do everything and anything to make them happy. Their expectations are so unrealistic and their need for "things and stuff" is bottomless. It's disgusting. I'm disappointed by our cultures inability to produce quality human beings.
If you knew how much trouble
If you knew how much trouble I've had, you'd understand. I used to accuse people of whining too much about stuff like you are... until it happened to me. My iPhone experience is 100% hell, and yet 100% Heaven, because of how amazing of a phone it is. If they could fix 2.0's stability, which they undoubtably will, it will be the perfect phone (which, paradoxically, it already is...)
Not regular Snow Leopard, but...
...iPhone OS Snow Leopard.
Leopard and even Snow Leopard have much too high system requirements for the iPhone. Not to mention they aren't designed for a touchscreen.
But I can definitely see iPhone OS 3.0 focusing on stability, security, and speed just like Snow Leopard.
That's what I meant... Mac
That's what I meant...
Mac Leopard: iPhone Leopard :. Mac Snow Leopard: iPhone Snow Leopard.
