New iMacs on the way...
More information is coming out of Geek Sugar on new iMacs being released this week. The normal prediction: Speed bump via Penryn processor upgrade and bigger hard drive varieties. Same price points.
While that may be true, we'd also like to see some of the Blu Ray, video upgrades and HDMI goodness the new motherboards can provide. This would be the first upgrade since the Aluminum iMacs were introduced on August 7th. Remember that?

Matte display option (in addition to a glossy option)....?
Let the iMac consumers have a CHOICE!

Being as the screen is glass pretty much makes it a glossy screen. You think that they will start selling iMacs that would lose the glass panel in the front; remodel the case design (currently you get into the iMac by removing said glass) and significantly change the weight and feel of the iMac? I'm not saying they wont go back to a plastic screen at some point across the board, but there is no way they would support both glass and plastic at the same time.
I think blu ray too - it has been way too long
Had to throw that little jab in there...yeah you guys picked the Aluminum iMacs..but what have you done for us since then? (besides all of the iPods)
"we'd also like to see some of the Blu Ray and HDMI goodness the new motherboards can provide."
Apple has better things to do then give a speed bump to the iMacs. iPhone goodness and Mac Book Pro chasis for starts.
HDMI port and Nvidia 8800 please.
uh what about perhaps multi touch?
uh..theres no touchpad so i dont really know how they can put multi touch in it..=P
I like my Aluminum 24" iMac's (most recent gen). Been very satisfied with its performance and the images on the Glossy screen. Yet, I'd upgrade if a speed bump, new video board and increased HD capacity were featured in the next version. Improved SuperDrive would be nice too.
I would be surprised to see Blu-Ray included. Seems this will make its debut when the Mac Pro's are next updated.
theres no touchpad I agree, but there is that gigantic glass screen on it don't forget ;-)
I'm waiting for the 1T Hard drive option on the 20" then I'm buyin
the glass screen is going to stay, since in the end apple will add multitouch to the imac, with a glass screen a la iphone to allow easy cleaning and prevent scratches... At least in my opinion.
I JUST SOLD MINE ON EBAY £915.00 wICKED! (24" MODEL)
if matte screen does happen, it has to be an bto. the glass glossy display will remain same if not only choice.
any new graphics card increase of specs- 512 v-ram option NEEDED
the plain macbooks have looked the same for a long ass time and they are still plastic so those should be updated
