Apple gets into music-related movie sales through iTunes
Apple has introduced a new wave of music-related movies on iTunes, gathering these together in the new “Music Movies” page.
The Music Movies landing offers music films such as concerts, documentaries and music-focused feature films.
Apple also plans to “negotiate exclusive access to new music-themed movies to make them available for home distribution on iTunes before the physical DVD makes its way to retail shelves or rental stores,” reports Billboard.
Among the first such exclusives is "It Might Get Loud," a documentary about Jimmy Page, the Edge and Jack White, which iTunes will offer from Dec. 8 - 22 before any other outlet. Pre-orders start today. Another is the Kings of Leon concert film "Kings of Leon, Live at the O2" from Nov. 3 - 10.
Speaking about the move, “It Might Get Loud” director Davis Guggenheim said: “I used to think that the quality of downloading music on iTunes was a barrier for me, I just didn’t think it would be good enough.... but [I think some fans] will need to see it on a Tuesday night at 11 p.m. on iTunes. I don’t think it’s an either/or thing.”
Apple has also ramped up its catalogue of older music-based films with such titles as "The Song Remains the Same," "U2: Rattle and Hum," "Buena Vista Social Club," "Don't Look Back-Bob Dylan," John Lennon Imagine," "Neil Young: Heart of Gold," "This Is Spinal Tap," "Purple Rain," and "The Doors." Some of these films were available previously.

That's pretty awesome. I buy a lot of concert DVDs and would consider this. Hopefully they have the HD versions.
The picture you posted is a clear reflection of the sad state of popular music today. Jack White should not be standing on the same stage, let alone playing anywhere near, jimmy page.
I'm as big a fan of Zeppelin as anyone (well maybe not die hards) but dont' be one of those guys that writes off something because it's new-ish. I'm not even a huge White Stripes fan (outside of radio singles I've heard) but he's consistently mention as being an incredible guitarist/musician and I'm sure if Jimmy Page was truly offended then he likely wouldn't have done the movie with him... and if he's not offended, why should the fans be?
Jack White was one of the more interesting of the 3. He's one of the great talents of this generation. Comes off a bit aloof at times, but he is incredibly prolific as an artist... and a young one, at that. Hell, in the opening scene, he builds an electric guitar out of a coke bottle, a piece of wood, a nail, and string.
Sad state of music?! Hardly.
Well, besides the fact that this news post has nothing to do with musician-ship, i'll comment on this since i did see this, since i play music, record and drums locally. Although i'm not a huge fan of the White Stripes, the point of bringing Jake White in brings in a new young guitarist who offers a completely different view of guitar theory. The Edge : Effects, Effects, Effects, Delay, Effects, Reverb, Effects Jimmy Page : Classic, Tight Jake White : Raw, Home Made Even if you don't like one of these three, their guitar is their business card. They've branded themselve with their sound. You hear any one of these guys on any record with any band and you will know who they are. Pretty cool. You could toss Ego Van Halen in that list, Tom Morello, Santana, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc
