Microsoft makes video for launch of IE8

Share

Internet Explorer 8 is heading to PCs soon.  Microsoft made a 5 minute "History of the Internet" video to commemorate this "event".  The video isn't too bad, but it didn't include the part where Microsoft bought the Spyglass browser fron U. of Illinois and killed off Netscape by abusing its monopoly power.  Strange

Very ridiculious... sorry!

Looks like the ninja impersonates Steve Ballmer.

yup..the ninja does seem a bit "steve balmish"!! ;)

No, its the ask the ninja ninja.

And he's sponsered by verizon...

that was so fucking stupid.

Yes, the new supererb Main Feature: Private Mode... Wow. Thats amazing innovative. cool....

I think Microsoft is gonna develop IE8 oder 9 for the Mac. They would be crazy if they don't because of the growing market share. Don't you think?

Well... No one would use IE8 or 9 for mac. It renders pages like they've been whacked by a cat on steroids and take the loading times are outrageously slow. Mac users would stick to Safari/Firefox...

Since when did M$ make a browser that made life easier for developers??

Oh, they now have that button to show sites designed for crappy old IEs properly in the new one - coz it breaks them!

If you only developed for IE then it was easy.
You could make a lot of junk/wrong code, and hope for IE to correct it.
.
If you would like to develop for something that can be seen in IE and some other brower. Then you have a problem.

Wow, now you can browse privately on the worlds slowest browser... I'm guessn apple's patents for private browsing expired yesterday? You know atleast when apple copies someone (e.g. user accounts) they accnowledge it, and make it good. Microsoft do neither. They just make a shity version of what someone else has already thought of. Mind blowing that people actually stand up for these morons...

pretty ballsy for a major corp to so blatantly admit private mode = porn mode, i'm impressed with that as it's the type of thing conservative groups would boycott a company over

what a crappy video..

IE8 is not too bad, Microsoft was actually listening this time. Actually, it is slightly faster than FF 3.0 on heavy javascript/ajax pages than firefox, but again not by that much faster that I'm going to switch back.

I'm a FireFox user for a long time but I like the accelerator feature in IE8. Highlight the text and there are instant shortcuts for mapping, translation, searching and others in a menu appearing just next to your selection.

The porn part was the funny, they're just making of googles incognito mode!!
"yeah one can shop for a loved one like for my wife"....yeah right!

Google employees are encourage to surf porn at the work place as long it's an incognito mode!

At least microsoft can come clean about.

Painful to watch!
I would rather watch "Salo"

Yet another boring video :(
I couldn't bring myself to watch more than 1 minute.
Is it me, or is the internet becoming really really dull?

So are we just forgetting the fact that Netscape 4.7 was *really bad*, and that Internet Explorer was a vastly superior product at the time?

I'm pretty sure M$ spent more on this ad then they did on developing this new browser.

Pathetic browser and lame attempt to exhibit the "cool factor" that Apple does so well. It's totally forced and they must have paid the important people loads of $$. IE8 will still hold back web standards, but maybe not AS painfully as its predecessors. One conciliation, though, is that it may finally be the death knell for IE6. M$ forgot to mention that IE8 only scored 20 out of 10 on the Acid3 test (acid3.acidtests.org) compared to Safari's perfect 100/100 score, lol.

20 out of 100 that is...

Typical MS BULLSHIT. Claim everything that everyone else is doing is made possible by YOU. Sorry...ain't gonna work. HACKS!

Bunch of no name "comedians" and the AskaNinja........

Sad.

This video is awful
I could not resist more than 40/45 secs
What kind of child is editing this way ?

"Highlight the text and there are instant shortcuts for mapping, translation, searching and others in a menu appearing just next to your selection."

Er, you know you can highlight text in ANY application in OS X and use the services menu to translate, speak, lookup in a dictionary etc. Services have been around since OS X Panther. As usual M$ has brought nothing new or innovative to the table.

Let's not forget that M$ bought IE in the first place, just as they did with most of the software they've ruined over the years.
