New Laptop Hunters ad: "Looks sturdy!"

Share

We'd almost forgot about these...the Latest installment has a young couple looking for a sub $700 laptop.  Obviously, there is no Mac anywhere near that.  Notice when the baby cries.

Microsoft might want to switch its attention to that pesky Google pretty soon.

"For under $700, we can't get a Mac."

For under $700, you don't want a PC.

The face of the guy is like, ok, I don't have the money... but I'd prefer a Mac!

That's what all of these ads are saying - people really want a Mac, but don't have enough money. That basically means people with enough money that see these ads will go look at a Mac.

In effect MS is advertising for Apple.

The problem is Vista, not the hardware.

The problem is the drivers, not Vista

The problem is .dll's, not drivers...

The problem is the registry, not .dll's...

The problem is Microsoft, not the registry.

everything is a problem! that's why is so cheap!!

The problem is that there's 'nothing to talk about a 700$ full-sized notebook', not even about "everything being a problem"...

pick up a MacBook refurb @ Apple.com - they have been as low as $700

Yeah, because that sounds like a great idea, someone else's sloppy seconds, I'll take my chances and spend my 700$ thanks...

The ability to share photos!?

A phone can do that. A netbook running Ubuntu can do that. A freaking Wii can do that. How is that something that someone would consider that they need to specify when buying a computer, like it might not be able to do? I get that this ad is supposed to appeal to the technologically retarded who will see the ad on TV and say "NO WAY! YOU CAN SHARE PICTURES ON *COMPUTERS* NOW!?", but these people don't know what an operating system is so why are they even targeting them with an advertisement for their operating system? I guess if they did teach them what an operating system was then they'd realise that they actually have choices and might make a *decision* to go with one other than Windows which is the last thing MS wants. So if consumers don't even know what an OS is, they'll just get what comes with whatever shitty computer they get & MS knows this and won't TEACH people what an OS is so all they're doing is advertising PCs – not really Windows.

*mutter mutter* ... the ability to share photos... *mutter mutter*

Who'd listen to people who spend $700 when a $200 netbook would do what they want?

They ain't so smart they own damn selves.

Gawd Crispins ads are just atrocious...I mean not because they are advertising Windows, but because they just make terrible ads. Seriously, with all this money Microsoft has, they can't hire a better agency? Seriously, Microsoft just can't get anything right, they are so out of touch with everything.

HAhahaha, they're gonna use "Photo Gallery" for photos!
How stupid. It just keeps getting worse. We'll see if they won't regret not getting that Mac after they start getting malware, crashes, freezing, registry problems and all the usual Windows crap.

I think they misunderstood the baby's cries...

exactly what i thought. lol

Hahaha Nooo not a pc!!!
Windows Photo Gallery?!?! There go my childhood memories..

have fun making fun of it

Umm, she's like the hottest mom I think I've ever seen. I think I'm in crush.

This chick has gone black, and will never go back!

I love the brown box. Now that's some sexy packaging design. Mmm... eco.

An hour after they start using it they won't be smiling.

If someone bought me a PC laptop I'd be happy too, as soon as I put Linux Mint on it. I'd be even happier with a Macbook and OS X.

I agree his face does imply he'd rather have a Mac.

Have you seen the keybord? Old blank metal, i'm pretty sure they will hate to write on it.

They both kept saying things like "this one looks good". Don't judge a book by it's cover.

But most people DO judge a book by its cover. Clearly they knew next to nothing about what they wanted and got the cheapest big screen they could find.

That's how people choose which Mac they want, by the looks.

That is not true at all. Macbooks all look very similar and very sexy!. It's all about the screen size, cpu speed, graphics capability, and memory. Not on how the computer looks.
