Is the Tmobile Sidekick dead?

Microsoft, after over a week of data outage and admission that they've lost all of their customers' data, might have just killed the Sidekick.  That's a shame because, before the iPhone, the Sidekick was the most revolutionary smartphone platform out there.

I honestly can't say I have ever known anybody that has ever owned one of these. I guess some people are up schitte creek thanks to Microsoft though. If it in fact is their fault. I would be.

Pink and the Zune Phone are dead as well

After this debacle, who would trust Microsoft to run their phones... I believe that this is the latest nail in the coffin of Microsoft's mobile strategy (WiMo 6.5 was last week's nail, the disclosure of the "pink" phones the week before).

Who thinks that I should buy a Zune HD.

You should!!! Definitely!!!

You should!!! Definitely!!! It's the coolest, hippest MP3 player around!!!

Even more so... why don't you buy a dozen... Jeez!!

WHAT I DO WANT TO KNOW IS HOW THEY LOST IT.....

NO BACKUP? DID THE HOUSE BURN DOWN TO THE GROUND?

Is the Tmobile Sidekick dead?

Was it ever alive? I've never heard of it.

No backups? Microsoft must

No backups? Microsoft must be licensing Time Machine from Apple.

Have you people been living under rocks? Rewind 3 years before the iPhone came out and every celebrity, teen and tech geek was using a sidekick 2. Problem is they stopped innovating around the same time and have been slowly dying. This may be a final straw.

Werd, I had the Sidekick2 and Sidekick3 before I got the original iPhone and then iPhone 3G. It was hands down the best text/email/IM device. Even had an App store of sorts and I was modding it and cutting my own tones

I own one, only because it's the fastest keypad i've ever used and it's an email machine. Had no idea Microsoft owned Danger. I'm so anti-Microsoft it's not funny. Guess it's my turn to get an IPhone. Thank you Microsoft for helping me turn the page on the Sidekick, Windows computers, etc.

But would you really believe...

... that Microsoft had no backup at all? It's very hard to imagine. My best guess is that their backups failed somehow when restoring, or maybe someone pressed the 'erase' instead of the 'restore' button... but then, what about the older backups?

When mr. Ballmer heard this I imagine he completely destroyed his office in relentless rage. I wouldn't blame him either, you would for less! The timing couldn't have been worse either, right after they announce the new Windows Mobile and start to compete with Apple. This is something even MS doesn't deserve.

With software development in their own building they certainly take no chances at all. I've read an interview with the MS Mac team in some magazine a while ago, which also included a nice tour through the 'lair' of their team, and apart from a whole cluster of Mac Mini servers (for building Office, etc) they had a whole room dedicated to near daily tape backups, backup testing and a whole routine ritual related to that. Even though they have plenty of harddrive mirrors of their stuff too.

No, not at all. I was using a Palm 72s before I bought an iPhone. Weren't Palm bought up by Microsoft, or a Microsoft-owned company? This is what my brother told me. My brother was a Palm nut, even developing for them. This is why I am suspicious now that it is Microsoft behind the Psystar fiasco, because Palm keep pushing for iTunes to work on the Pre. It's awfully similar behaviour don't you think??

the sidekick

i am so pissed about the sidekick.. all my information is lost.

I always sweared by t-mobile and the sidekick phone.
and now all my data is lost. my emails and address book

How do these people not have a BACKup server, this would of never happened with AT&T. and how is there no where to save any info, on the sim card.

on every other phone there is somewhere to save all info, emails, phone #s address etc. now all of my info, is all gone, friends phone #'s all gone, have to get everything again,
and all they can say is woops. sorry
not cool
