'I am a PC Ad' was staged

So this isn't going to come as a big surprise, but "Lauren" (if that is her real name) didn't really go into the Apple store...or Crispin Porter had a bunch of extras walking around during the filming.

How do we know?  Notice at 0:13 when she walks into the store, there is a balding guy with jacket and striped shirt and camera walking by.  He is still walking by when she leaves the store filmed on the other camera.  That gave her less than a second in the store.  She said she walked in and looked around but how could this be?.

We also know she is an actress so the rest isn't a stretch.  What LA actress wants a hulking, cheap  17 inch HP Notebook over a small white MacBook?!

Not that you believed it before, right?

Thanks to Fanboy for the find.

See stills below.

that is just what i wanted.....wait till you boot the first time lauren :-)

Staged? Holy shit. Next you'll tell me that the characters in the Apple ads aren't really PC and Mac computers.

It's hilarious how much press this add is getting from Apple sites, particularly the ones listing specs and claiming it's misleading. Throw stones much from your little glass houses?

No you are sort of right, I think the only point is that technically she never entered the store which makes for a poor ad. She never even tried the other experience is what the ad is basically saying.

Or the people walking past in the various shots are also actors used to give the scene depth, and when she left the store they used the same guy.

You cannot just setup a camera on the street and film people walking past for commercials without all sorts of permits and posting notifications.

Thats why they blurred their faces

I don't think the other people are actors. The guy can be seen approaching the store from the other direction as we see Lauren's back while she is walking down the sidewalk. If that guy is an actor, they placed him is a very strange spot. The possibility that he walked into the store is plausible. He could have been looking at computers, or he may have just followed her in, because he was looking for chicks. So many possibilities. But I really think that Lauren walked up to the door and walked away. It is a commercial. Nothing said it contained real people. it is a dramatization in my eyes. Commercials like these are created to make a point and combine the ideas of many customers into one character.

Microsoft claims that the ad is authentic and not staged. That's why people are asking questions.

it's simple really: the guy ALSO went into the apple store. Who can resist?

Then, after he'd looked around for a while, he left, followed shortly by the actress.

"Next you'll tell me that the characters in the Apple ads aren't really PC and Mac computers."

Wait. What?!

Didn't notice about that, but obviously there was something suspicious about this commercial.

Bring again Seingfield, jajaja just kidding.

You apple users are idiots, it just a Microsoft commerical to slam Apple just like Apple has their commericals to slam Microsoft....

You like Apple's, buy an Apple computer

You like Microsoft, buy a Microsoft computer

These commericals are not going to change anything and sometimes they are funny.

Get a life!!

Microsoft makes computers?  Since when?  How did I miss that?  Man, you made me totally feel like an idiot... NOT!

Microsoft makes computers, dumbasses.

They're called Zunes.

Zune?  I sure hope you're being sarcastic...

Technically, a Zune is a computer in the strictest sense of the word. Mind you, by that definition so is a microwave (it's control system anyway).

The most powerful computer ever created is the human brain--also *technically* a computer. The point is, of course, that the Zune isn't a computer.

Of course since the Zune IS a computer, that makes you an idiot.

Ok... so you can get a Zune with a 17" screen that runs Windows cheaper than a MBP?  If not, I'd say the whole Zune thing is out of context and pointless...

Do you also refer to your pocket calculator as a "computer"? How about a clothes iron? How about people? Pets? Lizards?

You just prove that as soon as something is made idiot-proof, they just build a better idiot.

A "pocket calculator" IS a computer. It performs simple, or not even so simple, mathematical calculations and has a processor and memory and, you know, CIRCUITS. It is not my fault you are an idiot. Are computers on the Apollo missions not computers? They had less processing power than a modern pocket calculator.

I didn't say it isn't a computer, I said "do you also refer to a pocket calculator as a computer". Obviously comprehension is an issue for you, so let me make it simple: would you walk into a store and say "show me your computers" when you want to see microwave ovens or calculators or TVs or vacuum cleaners or lawn mowers or Zunes? No, you wouldn't.

I'll also point out that your list of requirements for a computer is faulty. Processor, memory, and circuits are not required--a computer is *anything* that computes. As I said previously, do you call a dog "a computer"? How about people? An abacus is a computer, would you expect the salesman to show you that when you ask to see computers?

What about a cappuccino machine?  I saw one with wi-fi the other day...  But it only ran linux.   :-)

No a computer is not "anything that computes." A computer is any MACHINE that processes data given an instruction set. If you feed your dog a piece of paper containing binary code and it connects to the internet, then it is a computer. And your "point" about what is referred to as computers is irrelevant.

My dog ate my Windows install disc... does that count?  My cat likes Leopard better, but he just licked the box...

Actually, his point was spot-on, and you just actually agreed with it...

Read up on the subject--the brain is a computer. An abacus, like any calculator, is a computer.

I can't help but notice that you've never addressed the questions about asking the salesman to show you computers when you want to see microwave ovens, vacuum cleaners, calculators, etc. You've avoided that in every reply. I wonder why....

So Microsoft makes the Zune.

Do you know what Zune spelled backwards is?
That's what Microsoft makes.

I believe you are the idiot. MIcrosoft doesn't make computers!

FAIL!
You're obviously the idiot her. Microsoft doesn't sell hardware so what are they trying to say?

The commercial is pitiful.
"Yeah, I bought a 17" laptop with a resolution of a MacBook 13, but it's bigger".
Hey lady, connect it to a 2001 60" DLP TV - then it will be huge!!!
And all the other specs are awesome (for a 2006 model).
They should have given her a suitcase to carry that brick around and a couple of batteries (at least one more so she can use the thing for at least 5 hours).
Nice to see what kind of customers M$ is targeting.

So why are you visiting a site with mac in the title if we are all a bunch of idiots?
