If you look at the Apple Store today, you'll notice that Apple has updated the white polycarbonate MacBook.  Interestingly, they've also started using the name "MacBook White" (see below).  This might be the new brand name we've been hearing about.  Specs across the board have been updated:

  • 2.0 -> 2.13 GHz processor
  • Hard Drive 120 GB -> 160 GB, build to order now includes 500GB option from 320GB before and it it the only MacBook so far to offer the 500GB option (from Apple)
  • RAM speed 667 MHz -> 800 MHz
  • Battery goes from 4.5 -> 5 hours
  • Improved Energy Star Ratings

Hello,
just thought I'd point out that in the article the specs state
2.0 -> 2.3 GHz processor

but really it is:
2.0 -> 2.13 GHz processor

Probably a typo. Too bad 'cause I was excited about the 2.3 :(

So at what price would you be willing to buy this MacBook? Personally I think $999 is an approachable price, but then again I rarely shop around after I make a decision of what I want.

As a disclaimer - I use an 18 month old white MacBook now, and I find its performance and capabilities completely adequate for what I use it for. Admittedly I upgraded to RAM to 4 GB (why not? It was like $60)... and some day I might splurge and spend the $100 or so on a 500 GB drive, as my media collection is getting quite enormous.

2.13 not 2.3

im not really to impressed but its a nice little update. im wondering what apple has up its sleeve. Its like they switched white for black for their kinda special laptop.

So why has only this model been updated and not the entire macbook / macbook pro line? I mean if they are gonna wait to the WWDC then why not wait with this update, or are they simply not going to update the macbook / macbook pros at this time?

I guess the move to the 9400M (from GMA3100) is much more exciting than the CPU bump...

Not yet in Switzerland..unfortunately...do you know something more about this...In the swiss apple page (apple.ch) when you compare the macbook models they don't even show you the white one..this means that they'll update...or that they'll ditch the white macbook??

They've used the term MacBook White ever since they released the aluminum MacBooks...
