So, today's case spy shots would reveal a couple of interesting nuggets if they turn out to be the final designs of Tuesday's MacBooks. Firstly, the 13 inch-ish case is sans Firewire. Systems Admins will have to move those Boot images over the network now for all but the Pro models. More importantly, a new port has been introduced to the side of the Pro model. You can see it below. The circle next to it appears on the 13-inch model so it isn't an eject button (probably IR - strangely on the side).
Anyone got any idea what it might be? If so, vote!

The moving of the optical drive to the side would certainly make the iMac dock feasible, and this being a dock connector... damn, I forget how I was going to finish this sentence. It will not be a dock-port because it would not make sense for having it only on the pro models. First the macbook with it´s 13" would fit in (same as the 15" pro model would have to fit in when the 17" would be the biggest one as all pro models would have the dock). Second you could just make more money when more people could buy the docking monitor. And Apple want to make profit, don´t they? There could be only one chance, that there will be a docking station: if threre will be ALL models withe the possibility to buy it with or without the docking port. The ones with it would be of course more expensive. Who did say 12 pricepoints? But I really really doubt it.

I believe both the MB and the MBP casing has the port. Look at the exterior shot of the MB, the one with all the ports. See how it has the same hole that appears just above the mystery port on the MBP? See how it partially obscured by something in one corner, like for example the ragged edge of a piece of tape? It looks to me like shadow and compression artifacts are hiding the tape. Because if you look at the interior pic, you see the hole and right next to it... what seems like holes for fastening screws for some kind of connector.

Card reader port? Would be an awful place for a display port connector as you would have your monitor cable run along the entire length of the Macbook as you have an external monitor connected.

Take note of the circular hole directly next to the taped over "port", behind it is a white background.
Also if you enlarge the picture at all, even in preview, you can clearly see that the edges are not parallel to the case itself, the hole is crooked.
The tape itself looks to be raised slightly indicating that there is something merely taped to the side of the case.
