I really hope you're being sarcastic!

It is obviously a fake since

3540

It is obviously a fake since it has SD card readers on the side. Apple would NOT include that in a "nano" notebook - especially if it is not on the MacBook Pro model.

FAKE

4041

Haha nice try, but i doubt Apple would ever color the headphone jack and microphone input, and the crappy keyboard is not apple either. And i think the name for such a Macbook would be Macbook Mini and not Macbook Nano

Why would it be Macbook Mini?

3240

Why would it be Macbook Mini? If you look at trends (Ipod mini -> Ipod NANO), Mac Mini hasn't been updated in years and many sources say Mac Mini is going to become Mac Nano. So why on gods good earth would it be MAcbook Mini? Kinda a step backwards.

Mac Mini is a Desktop

3435

Mac Mini is a Desktop Computer, Therefore Mac Nano would also be a Desktop Computer. For Right now, The Small MacBook Laptop would Go down to MacBook Mini, Then maybe over time if they made an even smaller Netbook, It would be MacBook Nano. It went iPod > iPod mini > iPod Nano. So this will go MacBook > MacBook Mini > (Maybe eventually) MacBook Nano.

this is a msi wind..

this is a msi wind..

"Nano"

And wouldn't it be aluminum? Yes. It would.

Looks like it's running

2838

Looks like it's running Leopard...wonder if they cloned the mac efi or if it's a osx86 job?

Glossy black

4336

The first thing I thought of when I saw the glossy black was the Aspire "Gemstone" that I thought of buying before I knew about the Mac mini.

This is for Apple Insider who

This is for Apple Insider who posted the the flicker link that shows that is a MS Wind. Did you guys even look at the pictures?
There is n way this is a MacBook Nano!

that is an msi wind with a

that is an msi wind with a screen shot from a mac

It is an msi wind with OS X 10.5.5 running

3242

You are right that it is an msi wind, but not with just a mac screen shot. It actually runs 10.5.5.

Quite simple to do in 48 easy steps. :-)

Silly

3438

Wow, all thought puuurty colours on keys and connectors! and the white one has a Windows button! so awesome (see the Flickr pics). Really do love that Apple has decided to take a step back and cancel the unibody production process and go back to using multiple pieces of plastic!
Silly!

Of course it's fake

3637

What the hell else would it be?

If I am not mistaken it looks

3337

If I am not mistaken it looks just like a mini 9

That looks just like my MSI Wind hackintosh

3440

I bought one of the atom based MSI Wind notebooks(White). Has the same exact keyboard. You can tell by the function keys to turn the wireless/bluetooth on/off. I've got mine loaded with 320gb hard drive, 2gb ram, 802.11n apple wifi. Running 10.5.5 great. :)

Fail

3335

A 1.6Ghz Atom would make the 1.5Ghz CoreSolo Mini look like a screamer in performance.

MacBook Nano

3631

Nice but fake. Look at the black power cords. All Mac Cords are white. The top pic that show the decal "Macbook Nano" is photo shopped. You can see where they have cut and paster around the edge.

Apple logo's on the back of the machines look like stickers.

You know something!

3537

"..and it would be ARM based anyway"

They didn't even try

3235

The people who did this didn't even try to convince us they were real. The things are hideous for one. Windows key, balls of rubber on the lid, keyboard with keys pushed together when every other mac keyboard has spaces between keys. Poor.

I don't care if it is fake, I

2837

I don't care if it is fake, I want an atom based, tiny (read 9", maybe 10") screened netbook that runs OSX. I have heard good things about getting OSX86 builds running on MSI Winds for a while. If a Dude in China is making them look a bit more Mac like and putting OSX on it then even if it is illegal, I will buy one.

I was disappointed that Apple didn't release a netbook. I have a nice and powerfull iMac, I want something little and simple and stupidly portable (and cheap).

The Atom's are enough to play 720p videos well.

Give us what we want! I am sure it would be awesome for Apple, cheap ($300-400) and cheerful, get people hooked into the Apple OS way of doing things and then they will be more likely to buy a more expensive/power machine.

hey guys, i have one of these

hey guys, i have one of these at home. with osx, runs very smooth..

interesting!

Come on people, read the article!!!

3831

For crying out loud,

It says right up front that it is not made by apple but that it is a custom job done by some third party company (msi or whatever the name is). So, while it is not a genuine Macintosh computer, that doesn't mean it is a fake because it was not claiming to be made by Apple. Personally, I would love something like that in terms of size/footprint, etc. Light weight and easy to take to school in my small rolling book bag. I don't even care if it isn't running a top of the line processor. If I can check email / web, iChat, and take notes in class, I'm a happy camper.

Call it what you want; the

3536

Call it what you want; the MacBook Nano, MacBook Mini, Mini Mac - it doesn't exist! But MSI Wind U100 owners worldwide are going to great lengths to imagine that it does. Custom OS X installs coupled with clever case mods have created the imaginary MacBook Nano. Who knows when (or if) we'll ever see a netbook released by Apple, but with netbook news reaching a deafening roar its not like they can ignore this growing market segment for too long and stay competitive.

At the end of the day it just goes to show the strength of Apple's brand - when was the last time you saw a MacBook modified to look like an MSI laptop?
