Everyone in China has MacBook shells at home

The below image is Photoshopped to show what it would look like with current keyboard and not glass trackpad.

Below, smaller speaker holes.  Laser cut.

Optical port on the side below

What is that mystery port below on the left?  Doc?  eSATA? WiMAX antenna?

Bye bye Firewire on 13 inch macbooks :'(

Geez... this looks quite good, I wonder how they will fit all the stuff inside that small case. Will the regular macbook have white keys?

Is it me or doesn't it have some kind of video out (like mini-dvi or something else ?)

on the side I see: magsafe, ethernet, 2x usb, firewire800, line-in/line-out & kensington lock. but no sign of some dvi port :s

It's you. The 5th port down is a mini-dvi. You can even see the IOI label.

As for Firewire800, thats what you label the Kensington Lock.

And the kensington lock is what you ignored, which follows about 2 inches lower.

On the other casing (pro?) it seems the lock is on the side with the optical drive, and it is unclear where the firewire800 would be. There is an expansion slot and a mysterious port or two towards the front end.

No! I like my contoured aluminum pro keys! they feel so much nicer.

So very fake. These don't even look real.

Don't look fake to me. Look painfully obviously pretty damn real. Why is it so trendy to run around with your Moron's hat on shouting FAKE like so many bleating sheep?

As for the comment above me: LOL, watch how you'll say "they look so amazing" when EXACTLY THOSE cases are reveiled coming Tuesday. I just love how people call everything fake just so they can make a statement.

As for 9to5mac: Where's your glass trackpad? And what about that "cut out of one solid brick of aluminum" statement?

Well, whatever the new MBs / MBPs will look like, they'll make me switch from 10yrs of PC usage to Mac.
Only thing I'll hate Apple for (except the fact that they haven't released their oh-so-cool new headphones yet even though it's MID-OCTOBER already) is the fact that with the new MBs/MBPs they'll still screw Europeans over ($/€ rates at Apple have always been a huge joke!)

from what i hear apple should be cutting prices to build more stability in struggling economies and to rebuild stock gains that they have lost in recent months.

the second photo the track pad looks photoshopped. i wonder if this means glass?

It's photoshopped by a member of the Macrumors forum. He was curious how it would look with the keys from the Macbook air.

it's no firewire that.... gosh!
it' the video exit!
the icon there it's that of external video
itìs little for firewire 800
no firewire....

About leaked 4G Nano pics everyone also shouted that it`s fake and it wasn`t. Same with the keyboard. About the cases, well like always from Apple quite pretty, but nothing that would have a wow effect on me. Just a case. Perhaps this time it looks more than ever like an usual PC notebook. Perhaps it will be more spectacular when the Macbook has really a black plastic top and is really two tone like some rumours said.

The case look OK but this dosent say so much we dont know already.
What I see from the pictures:
The picture with keyboard and trackpad is a mockup (fake for those who like that word) but it gives a perspective, because the picture is altered there is no certainty in witch color the keys and trackpad will be in. It even give us room for the rumored glass trackpad.

At first glance you see only five ports in the image but if you look at the inage with the CD-slot you notice six ports (except audio). That gives power, ethernet firewire, 2x usb, a display port of some kind (that symbol next to the port) and 2x audio.

About the "brick", in the first picture some details almost look milled (dont know if Im using the right word). This might be an indication on that the top part comes from a solid brick, but I'm not an engineer.

all ports on one side?

Maybe you can dock it with new cinema displays! :D

These are the new Macbook pics... why otherwise escluding any FW800, since now the new FW3200 has been approved and still uses the same jack?

It might be that the Pro will have an even sleeker profile, tampered at the edges...don't you think?

I foresee a 10/12" touch netbook, new aluminium Macbooks 13 and 15, boosted Air with bigger HD, SSD and faster graphics, and finally new 15 and 17 Pro models.

I just wonder... it has been sooooo long Apple didn't update the displays. The committment to use LED light by the end of 2008 can be closed only now, since it will be too late for the holiday season postponing it more... are we going to see new brighter displays with some ....one-more-thing inside? :))

Obviously these are two real cases for the Macbook and Macbook Pro. One is larger, has more ports and Speakers drilled holes.

The Image with the Black keys and trackpad is obviously photoshop. The reason. To show us how it will look like

The Way the case was engineered looking from the bottom does indicate the Brick process. This part looks very much like the F-22 titanium bulheads carved out of a single piece of titanium using robots, diamond cutters and lots of coolig fuid. This was back in the mid 90s.

These will be two very thin and beautiful notebooks INDEED. Can't Wait

Instead of the mini-DVI or full DVI or HDMI for that matter. It looks like they have opted for the new 20-Pin "DisplayPort" standard. This is a step in the right direction. It will be nice to have standard digital outs on PC's and Mac's, since PC's should be getting them as well.

the keypad and trackpad were definitely photoshopped in. Don't expect it to look like that. Everything else may be real.

I want silver keys! I dont like the black plastic ones! Im still buying the pro tough, ive been waiting over a year for it.

Any chance that unknown port is a Display Port?

Or mini-HDMI?

It would make sense for one of these to be included...

look at the last pic.... the mystery port seems to cut oddly...

Dudes, that's no optical port, it's the hole to lock your MacBook (Pro) up. ;-)

Yeah, the mystery port is the secu-lock port that's on just about every laptop (I think it was essentially every laptop before the MacBook Air).

Actually it would be interesting if they added the lock port into the Air in this event.

does anybody else think the kensington holes are placed oddly? if you were to run the lock's cable towards the back of the machine as most people seem to, it appears that the security cable might block the ports on the macbook, and the CD slot on the pro. running it towards the front, down into your lap basically, is really kind of awkward. it would make sense in a docking computer, but only if the lock were on the outside (as on the pro), so you could secure the docked machine if you wanted to. i guess a macbook dock could have a built-in lock, but i don't know... it's weird.

Why are people saying there is no video out and no firewire? Have you never seen what the ports look like in real life? Do you not see the mini-DVI port and the firewire 800 port between the usb ports and ethernet port?

We're talking about two different cases here. The "mystery" port is here:
http://9to5mac.com/files/image/mystery-port.jpg

The kensington lock is on the optical drive side on the MBP and on the other side (with all the ports) on the MB.

I predict that only the MBP will work with the forthcoming dock since the lock placement on the MBP would enable its use even when docked.

i didn't scroll down enough, and just posted the same thing above... sorry man. i totally agree with you.

Why should only the MBP be able to dock? And which one? 15"? 17"?
I think the very first picture is a regular MB (it has no Card slot - which all MBP usually have) and you can clearly see the "mysterious" port is there.
In the last picture it looks like the "mysterious" port is taped , even the small hole seems to be oddly shaped.
If there will be a dock, both, the MB and the MBP will have a connection.
I am just want to see how they resolve the issue with the different sizes (13" - 17") or maybe a 18" if they switch to a 16:9 format.

Are we to assume that the new macbook will have an aluminium look to it without any spray painted color variations like BLACK? The thought of a macbook being that aluminium color isnt SO GOOOOOOD - cuz you more likely to see scratches, scuff marks unlike with the current black macbooks - i kind of like the current macbook design for the way the speakers are hidden - these cases with their speaker grills are bound to accumulate dust etc - so far Im just not impressed with the casing - big FKing deal - Everyone assumes that the keyboard would be black from the Macbook Air design - I however think that the white keyboard concept as seen on the Apple wireless keyboards are much nicer and complement the aluminium look better - the black keyboard is just plain nasty - they should fking get rid of that mini-dvi port and just put in an HDMI - makes it easier when connecting to your HD tv instead of using these bulky adapter conversion cables -
