Mac vs. PC Transformer clip
This is just kinda weird...How can you have such low budget actors with big budget special effects?

UPGRADING TO XP – lol.
Poor acting and lighting aside over all it was okay but could of been done a little better. I really don't get the "upgrading to XP" when Vista is the latest OS and Microsoft is working on Windows 7. Did anyone pick up it was Steve Jobs picture on the Apple shuriken?
Because Vista sucks so badly and is so slow that everyone is ditching it for the much faster and lighter previous version, Windows XP
Therefore, installing Windows XP is an "upgrade" because it's much faster.
Windows 7 hasn't even been built yet, it's just vista without all of the shit. People have already used it and said that it's not all that much different to Vista.
Microsoft are very good at advertising and marketing, and very very bad at writing good quality products that are fast and efficient.
that is 5 mins of my life I will never get back.
At least you have spent 5 mins of your useless life into good use.
You have to be a TOOL if you didn't like that, regardless of what type of computer you're partial to. Did anyone else noticed some of the sound effects came from Terminator, Wall-E and The Dark Knight ;etc...?
Sucked.
Tech demo coolness aside the "story" was weak, the "acting" was laughable and the industrial design of the bots was WAY off. The Apple bots needed to be more minimal and sleek, like an actual Apple product.
This proves that tech skill, even if very good, cannot replace creative talent. The guy who made this has tech talent for sure, and can or does work in some tech end of film making, CGI, whatever... but he has ZERO talent at story telling and THAT is where real genius rests.
Total waste of time.
Damn, you guys are harsh. It's not like you paid to see this? Looks like a fun student project for something.
Why is everyone on the internet such a bastard?
no kidding. i'd like to see the complainers actually make something better.
I totally agree with you. I loved this video. Lets see whether any one of these complainers or "who wasted 5 mins of their life" top this video. what I don't understand is there is a stop button on the youtube player, so why didn't these people use it.
I agree with all three of you...some of these guys can only criticize. If you don't like something, you don't have to always set fire to it.
big budget special effects? what is this 1992?
You don't need to be a film maker to appreciate a movie, just as you don't need to know how to paint to appreciate a painting.
So, people is "harsh" because they didn't like it. I didn't like it, but I know that the guy who make this put probably hours and hours to do it, so I respect that. Still, I don't like it. An if you're going to let people comment, then respect the opinions of others just as you would like to be respected. If you think this video is great, good for you. I, and a few more, don't think so.
now just imagine if the mac was a precision unibody...
For this guy to become a better film-maker is to listen to the criticism of his audience. His learning curve aside, the short was a good effort, despite his failure to design the 'Macborgs' in a minimalist fashion. However, this 'film' is obviously biased toward the 'Windoze' fanboise, 'PeeCees are better. Because they are.' -the same circular logic that has doomed Windows slaves to endless monthly cycles of filling the security holes in Windeaux, 'PCs...Transform'- to what? Hackintoshes? Honestly. I really want to know what he created this on, 'Final Cut Pro' or 'Adobe Premiere', and on what platform he did the CGI on.
The "PCs are better because they are" dialogue was a joke.
And judging from the room full of Mac Pros (which was probably their classroom), I'm guessing they used Macs. As to what app they used to make the CGI, I have no clue.
why did the apple computer need 4 other apple computers to beat the crappy windows computer? (who would take the time to make this?)
Soo uhh... When's the movie coming out??
A $400 PC laptop just kicked an MBP's ass???
Yea right!
& I did like it!!!
Some of the commenters here are ridiculous. Seeing as how it was shot in a school, it is obviously a student project. And students usually use the people in their group or their friends as actors, so why would you expect the acting to be even remotely decent? This project wasn't to showcase acting or cinematography or story, it was to demonstrate the animation skill. Which I think they did a pretty good job with.
Of course they could have made the bots look better, but I'm guessing they used all of the time they could to make it the best they could. They did a great job.
Finally, they uploaded it to youtube to show their friends, not submit it for Sundance.
If you don't like it, not a big deal, but don't criticize every aspect of it and talk about wasting your time when you could have stopped watching it any time you wanted.
Geez, it was a 4.5 minute short. It isn't up for an Oscar. You haters are total dorks.
So, I'm a "hater" and a dork because I didn't like something. I wasn't aware that I have to like everything on the Internet.
And now you know better...
LOL @ All the tools that didn't get the humor of "upgrading to XP" and the dialog about PCs being better.
If you are so stupid you cannot pick up on the humor then perhaps you have no room to critique this short? Yeah, thought so.
Check out the credits (I know, they're blurry), this film was made by only eight people (actors included) with the vast majority of the work on just two guys. That is impressive.
Personally, I would have done without the dialog as it takes away from, rather than adding to the overall quality of the piece. But for spectacle? Amazing. These guys have a future in the visual effects industry.
Wish I could get their help on my student projects!
Where was the support of the 3rd party software??
I would venture to guess that none of the critics here have ever done any 3D/CG. If you had, you'd know how freakin' hard this was to model, animate and composite.
Go download the trail of Maya and see how easy it is to learn. I bet these students get jobs with this reel.
I'm betting this was made on a Mac with Maya, Shake and FCP.
I agree. And think, This would be insane skill if what done in blender... even harder to use.
