Running a Hackintosh has become so obnoxiously easy; apple should just open it already.

If they did I would suspect the thrill of turning a PC into a "Hackintosh" would diminish.

I they did it the OS wouldn't cost $129 anymore!
People always complain about the price premium om Macs but forget that they get a OS for the fraction of a Windows licence (including iLife) when they buy a new Mac.

Anyone hacked one of these guys? The thing is perfect for me until I turn it on and see Windows. I'd love to get one, I just wondered about the functionality.

Apple survives primarily on hardware sales. Legal clones started to eat Apple's lunch and that's why they killed them. There is no guarantee that your investment in one of these NetBooks will continue to work with OS X as Apple will attempt to cripple this ability.

I have been an avid Mac Enthusiast for many years now, and just for fun I decided to make my own Hack-Intosh just to see if I could do it as well as how reliable it was. The Acer Aspire One that is listed Is fully working with OS X 10.5.5. Waiting on a few updates to get 10.5.6 on it. But everything works flawlessly. Had to swap the Wifi card, and the update on the list is that the sound fully works as well as the internal Mic and the Mic in works as well.

The only reason I think a lot of people do this is not to give the finger to Apple but to see if its just possible. There are those that want to do it because its cheaper, and hell I found a way to make a Mac Mini esque Hack-Intosh for $253! I love Apple and I will buy their Hardware and Software. but this is just something that is Fun for most of use to try!

The Eee PC 1000H WiFi works out of the box, whereas the 1000AH does NOT work without replacing the card.

Can't believe this blog would advocate violating Apple EULA. Very shameful! What's the next thing will you promote, pirating software and trying to justify it? Where will this blog draw the line?

Wow...
So yeah, I don't think anything is being advocated here for violating Apple Eula, just a list of what can work through an easy to read list. Everyone that gets involved with a project like this.... Yeah... Pretty much already knows exactly what they are doing and/or breaking, thanks for pointing out the obvious!

Um...so what do you suppose this blog is advocating then? By listing what netbook works with MAC OS, they are encouraging others to violate Apple EULA and thereby doing something illegal. Supposedly "everyone" gets involved. Does that make it right? Is that legal? Should this behavior be condoned? Unbelievable...

Dude, Chill...

For the record the Aspire One just needs you to swap the atheros wifi card for a dell 1390, (they run 10-15 bucks on eBay) and requires the knowledge of unscrewing not loosing about 8 screws. It might not have BT but its about 350 bucks and it includes a 160gb hdd and a 6-cell battery. Usually you get less in that price range.

Looking to f*** Apple over and help the Manufacturers leech of their work?
Here's a list!

Instead of this talk about Apple commiting suicide by giving away Mac OS legaly to other manufacturers - which is exactly what all those low profit companies want: make money with new stuff others worked and invested for - why not FINALLY DEMANDING from companies to DEVELOPE and alternative to windows on their own and finally do something for their money.

Jesus Noodel Christ.

The more this happens, the more you are crying out for Apple to raise the price of MacOS and include DRM-esque product activation. Personally, I'd rather Apple's developers be working on actual features rather than trying to stop people from stealing the OS.

The "EEE 9xx/1000" entry in the list is TOTALLY stupid on here since the 900 and 901 are completely different computers with different hardware and processors and thereby different support (or lack thereof) for the OSX!

I was reading a thread on an HP2133 forum which showed OSX working but said because of the VIA chip and video chipset that 3d acceleration was impossible (since no drivers). It would not be worth the time to try to get this running.

I wouldn't worry about hobbyists violating the EULA. They are just emulating the curiosity that got Apple started as a computer company. Mostly they install it, run it for a few days and then reformat with Ubuntu. I don't think you will see a store opening up selling EEE's with OSX.
