Apple UK has announced the ‘iTunes 12 Days of Christmas’ promotion, offering free songs, music videos, apps, TV episodes and films on a daily basis during the promotion.

The promotion run from December 26 to January 6. Each free download will be made available for 24 hours only, with the download of the day detailed on the itunes12daysofchristmas.co.uk website.

We don’t know yet if this promotion will be mirrored in other territories, but it doesn’t seem that unlikely. The company is also offering a chance to win a free iPod nano. UPDATE: Apple sources have now confirmed this promotion will be available "across Europe". Last year's freebies included music from Katy Perry, Lily Allen and The Ting Tings.

This promo appears to be sponsored by O2, Ticketmaster, HeartFM, Capital FM and The Times.

The asswipes at APPLE arent thinking again. Apples best customers are here on the US, why isn't APPLE offering this to US residents? I'm taking APPLE to task for this? They'll be receiving my calls real soon.

Think about us in the UK - this is just their way of saying sorry for the seriously overpriced products (even after exchange rates). E.g. A Mac Mini costs $599 in the US. Using today's exchange rates it should cost £360. It costs £499. There is no way on earth that shipping from the USA to the UK costs £139 per Mac Mini.

Re: UK exchange rates. It grates all the more to think how may machines are assembled in Ireland anyway. It's a f****** rip-off.

I think they'll look forward to that. I heard that Apple lose years of man hours each month just dealing with people that understand apostrophes and capitalisation.

the last time i checked, us itunes users get free music every week and some (pilot) shows...

so i suggest you rethink your standpoint...

For free music presents in the Netherlands go to:

www.itunes12dagencadeaus.nl

I would like to say that in the UK we do get free songs and pilot shows sometimes, but they never seem to be obvious or consistent. Also App store promo codes do not work on the UK iTunes, I wanted to give my friends promo codes for my app here in the UK which was a bummer.

But this happened last year after christmas in which if you were friends with iTunes UK on facebook you could get the new free media everyday to put on your new christmas present, so theoretically not big news here in the UK

Spotify and streaming is kicking up a storm in europe.

Why not market a little more iTunes? and use the freemium incentive!

Plus the iTunes facebook group gives us free samples from time to time of around 12 songs. Quite good.

But then again allowing us to download 12 songs of our own choice is far cooler that musical dictatorship!
