Jobs tells developer to chill

Short Version: Apple's lawyers contacted the little App factory to change the name of its iPodRip product that pulls music and video off of CDs and DVDS.  Because it has 'iPod' in its name, it is a violation of an Apple trademark.  iPodRip's developer wrote a diatribe to Steve Jobs on why this was unfair.

Jobs used his iPhone to respond:

Change your apps name. Not that big of a deal.

Steve

Sent from my iPhone

The little App factory changed the name to 'iRip'.  Apple could save some time and lawyer bills using this tactic in the future.

save time and money on lawyer bills? please, the 30 seconds that steve spent answering this email costs WAY WAY more than what they paid the lawyer to do his thing!

Steve takes an annual salary of $1.  So, maybe not so much.

the program is for ripping songs off your ipod.  or your friend's ipod.

Shouldn't it be "app's"?  Just sayin...

Nice to see that Steve is answering emails again.  I remember a little while back when we would get the random email response to some random email to sjobs@apple.com.  Apparently, Steve's on the move of late.

You can either try to feel smart by being a spelling and grammer Nazi or STFU.  However, if your post contains 3 errors in the title alone, and the title only contains two words, then picking the latter choice would be prudent.  It was an email sent from a smart phone; you're a douche.  Just sayin...

shut up.

was that email in bold lettering? if so, why can't i do that with my iPhone? and if steve can do bold lettering, then that was the deciding factor.

Another classic line from The Steve. Hilarious.

The CEO of "The Little App Factory" should be wiser with his time.  Instead of writing that letter, he could have called up a lawyer friend, or read the wikipedia page on trademarks.

There is no doubt in my mind that if "The Little App Factory" were given unlimited funds to defend their use of "iPod" in court, they would lose.

Apple simply owns the registered trademark of "iPod".  You can't sell another product with that name in it without permission.  Just like I can't sell my new product named "Oreo Popping Tarts", even through that's exactly what they are.
