Amazon Gives Away New iPod Pricing?

They've been known to do this before - and of course it could always be a glitch...

But as you can see, Amazon is offering up an 80Gb iPod for $609. I wonder what sized screen you get with that?

Perhaps, this could also be some new pricing algorithm that kicks in when there is only one product left?  We've found some other anomalies after the jump...

If that is the price for the new ipod it might as well be a new 80GB+ HD full screen iphone.

I think this is either a glitch or a response to a demand for a dwindleing iPod supply, Apple would never disclose pricing, especially to Amazon, they arent that special to Steve...

Switch to the other colour and a more normal price appears. This is just some deranged price from a marketplace seller. Nothing to see here, folks.

im a serious amazon-er and this not a warning of a new ipod (although one has to be coming soon :D) this single ipod (it says right on the page that there is only one left in stock (which could be a sign of amazon clearing out the old to get room for the new)) is sold by some store who thinks thier ipod is special
i doubt the new ipod will cost 600+, even though the iphone surprised us all. the ipod is supposed to be available to the mass market, not just the people with massive wallets

but if the new ipod is fullscreen/touchscreen/maybe wifi, i would dish out some money for it!

Maybe it was the nanos, but i recall hearing more capacity with more aggressive pricing. $609, are you kidding me. There are media players out there that will do alot more than what we're evening hoping apple will do way less money. Like that new samsung with bluetooth and touchscreen for example. Not sure on other specs. But there is no way the new ipod will cost more than $50 more than the older videos. Hopefully less.

That's an iPod shipped from and sold by Wall Street Photo. Sellers that use the Amazon store can set what ever price they want on items they sell. This means nothing.

Amazon has also posted the prices on the 30GB 5.5 Gen up on some models as well. $499 for the 30GB, and $599 for the 80GB.

I'm not too sure that it's impossible for Apple to price the better full screen version of iPod at around 500$ (or more), especially if it has WiFi.

This would be pretty much the biggest upgrade ever and besides, the new nano will now likely be able to play video and have a larger display so it could take the place of the 5G iPod on the market making the new full screen iPod a rethought high end product for those who can afford it.

Apple's pricing is always very clean, like the iPhone is $599 they never bother with cents or mid numbers like 2-8 it doesn't have the Apple "Cleanness" of the other products price.

That is not Amazons price. It's Walstreet Photo Video. It's their "Amazon Store" per say. They can charge any price they want. I find this sort of foolish pricing to be very typical of many New York stores. They probably have another "Amazon Store" with the normal price. They're just trying to find suckers, that's all....
