iPhones sold out everywhere except four stores in the US!

Wow...If you wanted to wait out the lines and pick up an iPhone this week, we have some bad news for you.  It probably ain't going to happen.  Of all of Apple's US stores only four still have iPhones left...and each one of these only has one model.  If you are looking to pick up the 8Gb iPhone you might want to get your plane ticket not because the only store selling them is  the Honolulu, Kahala store in Hawaii.

Not to worry though, if you want a 16Gb black one.  Just head to Pleasonton, California....

Oh and if you are looking for a white iPhone, just queue up at the Apple Fifth Avenue flagship store in New York.

Woops - New Hampshire has a few left as well.

Otherwise, you are SOL.

Thanks DFB

This is proof of the total

This is proof of the total domination of the industry the iPhone has. There are never massive lines day after day for other cell phones. Let the apps flow like water from the app store. I need more cowbell!

I guess the embarrassment of standing outside the AT&T store for 3.5 hours paid off! =)

I'm surprised the Manhattan store is one of the four stores to have any left, especially the 5th Ave store.

What is really amazing is how

What is really amazing is how many Apple stores there are today. Shockingly, Apple has been very successful at single-vendor electronics retail - unlike anyone else.

Seven years ago we and all the analysts were all laughing at the prospects - "how dumb and egotistical can Jobs be?" was a fairly common commentary. Like this Business Week article thrashing the concept: http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/01_21/b3733059.htm

Now, in hindsight, the Apple retail experience is what everyone is after.

The Apple Store isn't exactly a Single-Vendor outlet. Yes, the only computers and MP3 players sold are their own; however the stores are stuffed full of third party hardware and software to support the Apple Products. Digital Cameras, Hard Drives, High-end earbuds & headsets, Printers, Digital Cameras, etc. Of course I'd never buy most of these products at an Apple Retail Store, since they are priced at Full Retail; however this mix is part of what makes the stores so profitable, since individuals purchasing an Apple product, often look to purchase all of their accessories at the same time.

This aside, I'm unfortunately not surprised by Apple's inability to properly forecast demand and have enough hardware in the pipeline to meet demand. Yes, many will simply wait until the iPhone is available again; however those who are not so patient and are dying to get their hands on a touch-screen phone may look elsewhere. (Granted, there is a big difference between the iPhone and most of it's competition; however there are masses of uneducated consumers who simply see the "flash" of the form factor and assume that the competition is close enough.)

I'm just glad that I spent 2 1/2 hours in line at AT&T on 7/11 to get my 16GB 3G.

I ordered a 16GB this past Friday afternoon from att in Charlotte and had it Monday afternoon. No need to stand in line...less than 1 business day to get one.
