Dating habits of iPhone users revealed
Hey, fresh this morning from the spurious but strangely amusing iLifestyle desk comes a breakdown of the dating habits of iPhone users..
According to Retrevo (remember them, they told Apple what to charge for its current fantasy tablet product last week), iPhone users are gadget-friendly, like things up-to-date and don’t demand a college degree in their future partner, just so long as they’re digitally switched-on (and don’t jabber too much on the phone).
Retrevo asked, "What makes a person most attractive to you?" iPhone owners prefered cool gadgets over a college degree three to one. iPhone owners are also more likely to see themselves as media buffs, extroverts, and intellectuals than users of other mobile devices.
Some study highlights:
- One in three iPhone owners has texted or emailed their significant other to break up.
- One in three iPhone owners say that, if their partner had out-of-date gadgets, it would be a turnoff.
- One in five iPhone owners admits to frequently watching “adult material” on their iPhones. (Twice as many as BlackBerry owners).
- One in four iPhone users has broken up with their partner because that person spent too much time on their mobile device.

Nothing to see here, folks. Just bad data due to shallow analysis (not that it might not become the meme that never dies, mind you). I suspect that if you had access to the demographics, you'd see that most of those responses were more reflective of the age of the user than their tech preference (ie, not a lot of teens using blackberries).
Really? So 33% of iPhone users have done all of a, b and c:
a) found a girlfriend
b) broke up with her
c) broke up with her by TEXTING her
I'd be even suspicious if 33% of TEENAGERS do this. These are completely meaningless stats that I'm guessing were made up by a teenager.
5 of my co-workers have iPhones. All are married. So the 6 of us have iPhones. Two of us must have broken up with girlfriends we're cheating on our wives with by TEXTING. Yep. Really?
I'm no stats wizard, but it seems like you have a small sample size. Maybe the 6 of you are just more considerate and don't break up relationships via texts?
I think the survey demographic idea is more on target. I own an iPhone and I would definitely prefer a girl with a college or graduate degree than one with killer tech. When I see individuals w/ the latest fashion and technology, it actually makes me a bit wary...especially without at least a college degree or some sign of other manner to earn wages. Debt crushes souls.
I guess this site has run out of things to write about! Come on Apple throw another product rumor around so I can read something much more interesting...on my iPhone.
"iPhone owners prefered cool gadgets over a college degree three to one. "
It's 1/3, not 300%. Guess mac people just can't do math.
Actually you non-mac moron,
N(total) = n1 + n2; where n1=3, n2=1
Therefore n1/N = 3/4 = 75%
