With all the furor over iPhone 3G prices and subscription costs, we're happy to find an invaluable resource for price-spotters, an international iPhone pricing guide.
We'd just set out to assemble one ourselves, which, given the nature of an international roll-out is harder than it looks, as so much of the small print in these deals is in languages foreign to us, turns out we didn't need to, as the venerable TUAW had the list already. So, we didn't know about it, and figure it could come in useful, and figured many others would find it of use.
One thing that is missing are details on WiFi access, which we understand varies from country to countru, with some potential customers complaining at the cost their carrier wants to charge.
We'd like to get on top of the WiFi and data plan charges, and need your help, partially to overcome any language barrier, so, please state the country and carrier you are talking about and kindly put information on WiFi and data offers in your country in the comments box below.
Meanwhile, here's the international guide from TUAW.

Nice. Good price.
Do you have to live in Belgium to be allowd to buy it?
If not, then I have an ide where I'm going to buy my iPhone

Switzerland Swisscom + Orange
orange = 1GB (all subscriptions)
Swisscom = 100MB - 1GB (small = 100MB, middle = 250MB, large = 1GB)
Official Swiss Orange pricing (press release)
Here are the official iPhone price plans details for Orange Switzerland:
http://www.allo.ch/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=20115
Compared to Swisscom:
. minimum subscription is more expensive (44 vs. 25 Sfr.), but:
. iPhones cost slightly less;
. 50 Sfr. rebate if you bring back a working mobile phone;
. 1 GB data for all price plans;
. free SMS included;
. free converstation minutes included;
. international calls at swiss rates (no roaming charges) included.
In other words, Orange offers more than Swisscom at an acceptable price!
Cheers!
Aueua
South Africa?
You left out the 5th biggest mobile market in the world... South Africa....
South Africa?
Does it matter? Telkom…uhhum…I mean Vodacom are going to offer it at a price that isn't even related to these. Plus they'll tie it in to a pathetically small and grossly expensive data plan.
Denmark
Denmark: Free Wi-Fi Hotspots (not that many of them though), 300 mb data included, additional data 1,25 DKK pr. mb, unlimited sms, 300 mins included, free calls to other telia customers and wired phones, additional minutes 0,99 DKK.
The only good thing about this is the ability to unlock after 6 months.
Denmark is not "6-months
Denmark is not "6-months minimum" it's "6-months" you can't bind a privet person more then 6 months in Denmark.
And as posted before me only 300MB data, and no way to buy unlimited data.
But we get free sms and MMS .... looks like telia Denmark do not know what an iPhone can and can't do.
Mexico - TBA? Gimme a break
I'm sure the ***holes from Telcel (national carrier) will screw us better than the Canadians or Italians.
Yay... way to go, Mexico.
I'm sure they don't want to disclose the price now to prevent complaints as of this moment.
OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG, I LOVE
OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG, I LOVE iPhone News!!!!!!!
I can't wait until later today when MOAR iPhone news will be posted. I check for iPhone news on my iPhone when I am away from my Mac so that I don't miss ANY iPhone news. OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!11 I can't wait for breaking iPhone news. I love iPhone!!! and will pay whatever it costs to have one, those people complaining about higher rates in Canada and Italy should not be whining - if you can't afford it then too bad, you don't deserve one. I hope they raise the rates so fewer people will be able to afford it and, I can stay alone and unmolested by the unwashed masses while high above in my ivory tower.
OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG, I LOVE iPhone News!!!!!!!1
Total cost
I mentioned on the TUAW thread (and maybe it'll get updated) but it would be super cool to have a column summing total cost of ownership over the life of the required contracts.
Up front purchase price is relatively unimportant in the grand scheme of things.
Austria
I think there should be a column for the minimal total cost / month. Having said that, here are the details for Austria: (everything in euros and incl. tax)
One (Orange):
iPhone 8GB: 149
iPhone 16GB: 229
Voice plan: 10 until the end of the year, then 25. You get 1000 minutes to everywhere in Austira (we only pay for outgoing calls), after that 4000 minutes from One to One, after that 0.1 / minute.
iPhone pack: 14. you get 100 sms & 3 GB. after that 0.25 for sms
no activation fee (usually 49). order online and get 40 (new customer) or 20 (existing customer) bonus.
Minimal total cost/month: 24 for the first 6 months, then 39 euros.
contract length: 2 years.
no info about wifi hotspots.
T-Mobile:
iPhone: same as one.
plans:
39 euros: 1000 minutes everywhere, after that 0.25/ minute. 0.25 for sms. 3GB data. no activation fee. first 10,000 customers get it for 35/month
55 euros: 1000 minutes to other t-mobile, 1000 to land lines, 1000 to other wireless carriers. 1000 sms. 3GB. no activation fee. first 10,000 get it for 45 euros. prices after 1000 minutes / sms: 0.25 / minute. after 3GB: 0.1 / MB
total minimum cost / month: 39 euros. contract length 2 years.
no roll over minutes (one & t-mobile)
just too bad I recently moved to Montreal... I really get angry when I compare Austrian / Canadian prices...
