Adobe Flash is already running on an iPhone, well, Flash Lite does just that thanks to Belgian designer/coder Thomas Joos.
Joos has managed to port Flash onto an iPhone in order to run an event guide he had prepared for a local music festival. While the developer hasn't managed to make Flash run as a browser plug-in he has managed to get the Adobe multimedia software running, thanks to b.Tween and a graphics tool called eyeGT. You can take a look at Flash running on an iPhone in the video above.
So this guy ported Flash Lite because he wasn't able to code his site in Cocoa.
The sole purpose of FlashLite is to develop an app once and deploy it on all devices. The trouble here is that you an iPhone only app. You can see it when he uses a rotation gesture on the map. No other phone or device will be able to send a "rotation event". (The other purpose is for Adobe to conquer and dominate the world)
And the only interest in getting Flash on the Touch Platform would be to browse those thousands of already developed embedded Flash animation. (The other interest is for lazy low level developers not to bother learning Cocoa and stay with their knowledge of Flash).
Huge difference between the two platforms, and flash lite will NOT run most of the content that the vast majority of web users think of when they think flash...

Sorry, but that headline was debunked when the article first appeared last week. It's getting a re-run today from Techmeme-style reality distortion.
It was an existing Flash Lite application which was reworked to run atop some other engine. I don't know whether Jobs Approves.
Restated, a developer emulated a SWF interface in some other technology. The Adobe Flash Lite engine was only peripherally involved in the actual story.
This is NOT Flash or Flash Lite running on the iPhone.
It is a native iPhone application that was created FROM an Flash Lite application. There was a porting process by way of 3rd party tools (b.Tween framework and EyeGT).
thats like saying: a guy ported windows to the mac! When someone ported a windows APPLICATION to the mac.... funny how trigger happy some people are. BTW, I used to be a major Flash (lite) fan but came back from that for various reasons.
