Apple attracts in Japan. Singapore, Qatar get in on iPhone action
Apple has arranged a series of new deals to boost the profile of the iPhone in the Qatar and Singapore, while Japan’s Softbank as confirmed the device continues to attract new users to its network.
Softbank signed up more users than any of its larger rivals in Japan in October, thanks in part to demand for the iPhone. The carrier attracted customers from NTT DoCOMo and KDDI for the device, which it’s the sole supplier of in Japan. It attracted 97,500 new subscribers minus cancellations in October.
In Singapore, the last of three local mobile carriers announced it will now offer the iPhone there starting later this year. StarHub has inked a deal with Apple and will reveal details of its offering of the device later, the company said.
In the Middle East, Vodafone also announced itself to have reached a deal to offer the iPhone, this time in Qatar, the first authorised partner for that territory.
