iPhone Software 2.0.1 update looms?

Looks like Apple's already cooking-up a swift update for the iPhone 2.0 software it shipped Friday, with one report claiming to have seen website traffic requests emanating from systems that ID themselves as 2.0.1.

Sure, this isn't hard and fast evidence, but what makes it even more interesting is that requests identified as coming from these purported patched 'phones all seem to emanate from the area around Cupertino and Atlanta (Apple and AT&T HQ, respectively), at least that's what the Boy Genius is saying.

It's no act of faith to conceive Apple to be working on a software patch for the release. Given deployment across six million or more devices, widespread public use of the software is bound to generate a few addressable faults, And, with reports of failed OS 2 installs on iPod touch models and many user complaints that some first-gen iPhones have become more unstable since the install, Cupertino's iPhone teams will be hustling to make good any damage, particularly as Apple's newly-promoted senior VP iPhone Software Scott Forstall's new position pretty much seems devoted to work to smooth over these post-release software cracks.

Man, I hope they hurry with this release.... I've had my 3G phone since 9am on "day 1" and I still can't get it to sync my contacts. 50+ threads with this complaint on Apple's discussion boards. I plan to spend the day at the genius bar today. Sheesh, 2.1 can't come fast enough.

Other than that, I love the phone.... but not having contacts sync is like saying: "Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?"

boygenius says its 2.0.1
not 2.1

Hopefully they fix the bug I found. If you go into Contacts and set someone's ringtone to something other than "Default", and then hit Info, it reverts back to "Default" even thought the new tone was checked off. You have to select the new ringtone and then hit the Home button. The next time you go back into that person's contact information, you'll see that they now have the new ringtone you chose. Don't know if it's bug, but it seems kind of ass-backwards.

yeah, 2.0 seems a bit buggy. Random freezes and crashes. Not enough to make me crazy or to register my displeasure in all caps on the internet, but enough to make me want the 2.1 update sooner rather than later.

Also, I want my jailbreak back! Nemus Sync was the greatest iPhone app in the world, and it's not available in the App store.

it's apple osX 2.01, not 2.1!!!

and build numbers are:

iphone 2G 2.0.1: 5b101
iphone 3G 2.0.1: 5b103

Apple osx 2.1
2.1
2.1
2.1

He-He-He-He
