But we want it now!
This is gonna rock the cell industry. You know Jobs has the team working late nights to make his 10 million prediction come true.
iPhone won't cut it in corporate world. Its consumer device.
iPhone is not a device its a computer that just happens to be the size of one, and make calls. The SDK can go either way it all depends on the way apple plans to implement it.
In one scenario all the jailbreakers and unlocker and hackers will be able to create legal apps and the software market on the iphone will flourish
in an other scenario apple will lock down the apps with watermarks and itunes will erase unauthorized apps from iPhones, the hackers will still find a way around but it will stall flourish-ment
We need a recycle bin app so I can get rid off this business stuff :-)
Are you guys sure there isn't two SDK's coming? One for consumer application developers and one for enterprise clients who develop their own applications for SAP and beyond?
"applications for SAP"
That will never happen. Does anyone really need that? What does Blackberry offer here?
Wish list...
Epocrates
Cisco VPN client
Reader for PowerPoint, WordDocs, PDF,
Spreadsheet app
I would be very happy with 802.1x support!!!
Epocrates is not far off. The SDK is gonna change the whole ballgame.
Could we see the DRM-Free Announcement?
So people ask how Apple is going to get to 10 million phones sold. There have been warnings that the penetrated and possibly exhausted the consumer market, but now Apple will move towards the business sector by releasing significantly more support for the Exchange Server in the near future. This will increase business sales significantly, helping apple reach its sales goals.
As for third party apps, there is NO way that Apple will allow anyone to make apps. For obvious reasons, Apple needs to restrict developers from making certain types of apps such as VOIP. The SDK will be very restrictive and all programs will be SOLD through iTunes. Note that this doesnt mean that hackers will be able to break the SDK to essentially make their own programs.
Mark my words...
im sick and tryed of hearing people slag off the iphone, i have had a blackberry and a xda exc and both were crap, being able to look at any website any where beats all other around at the moment, YES it needs new apps but with what over computer/device do you get as many update, i dont think nokia or any of the others spend anything on updateing, they spend it on ripping us off with new handset...
If you were me, do I wait next Thursday to see if any new devices are announced, or do I buy immediately my iPhone this week-end???
There will be a 3G iPhone announced at te March 6th event - no question about it. Before a phone can be sold, it must be approved by the FCC (which has a long habit of leaking phones to the public before they are released). Apple will announce the phone now, and release it in the summer.
If a 3g phone is released, then my iphone is going for sale on ebay! I hope we get exchange support and bluetooth obex transfer sorted out!
