Slingbox for iPhone waiting on approval from Apple
The Slingbox app for iPhone which has been in beta testing for while is said to be waiting on approval from Apple. Perhaps AT&T isn't quite ready to stream that much data across its networks? Here's a video of it in action.

They approved Orb in the App Store so I see no reason for them not to also approve this one too.

Orb is wifi only, making it fairly useless really. If this app is the same it's still the same crippled iphone.
When will apple wake up and realize that other phones have been streaming live TV over 3G for years? It's not exactly a novelty item..
Orb Live can be done over 3G and Wifi, where are you getting it is only Wifi? Do your Research.
This is different. Orb Live works over 3g now but at a terrible cost. Wifi alone sucks up the quality but 3g is slightly worse.
This is just like youtube folks. Over 3g, the quality gets worse.
If At&t/Apple lets this by, don't expect hd/high quality unless via wifi.
The fact we are paying for unlimited (it is not limited to 5gb for iPhone users, it is unlimited) but THEY control everything that goes on the phone is why we will never get decent apps for video on this platform.
Now hopefully Sony brings LocationFree to the iPhone.
If sling ever arrives will there be an option to remove the onscreen controls such as the iPhone/touch video player?
First Gen phone... looked like it was over edge also... impressive
How could you tell it was over EDGE?
To me it looks like in the beginning there was a Wi-Fi logo and not an "E"/

Yeah that was clearly wifi.
Wouldn't surprise me if the app was wifi only, to keep the merkins happy.
It just clearly wasn't EDGE.
This is old video from back in June. Nobody really knows what the final version looks like. I've been using Slingbox from the beginning and I would be happy with a wifi version of this on the iPhone. You can find wi-fi nearly anywhere.
It is much better than Orb.
I sling my cable box, a home security camera, and my Apple TV. I also have a slingbox in my parents home in Chicago so I can watch football and baseball games. It rocks. I can't imagine watching it on an iPhone all the time, but it would still come in very handy every once in a while. Putting this on my iPhone would make my investment that much better.
Well , as long as they release an underground "unlimited" version as well.... it's fine .. this is just like that stuff with Fring , you can always get it to work over 3g anyways with another version of the app.
Why the hell am I paying for data otherwise? To just SAY my phone can do 2mbits? ....(and the worst part it doesn't really reach that most of the time)
Sure , 3g costs THIIIIIIIIS much .. and its THAAAAAT fast ....... only ... you gotta use wifi dude ... using 3g is against the rules! LOL

You can use Orb over Wi-FI, 3G or even EDGE. You can also set the quality of the video based on which data method you are using. It would be better if it did it automatically. ** Hint Hint to ORB.
finally good news... any updates? release date?
This has been classified as "bunk" by the moderator of the official Sling Forums who also serves as the head of the Beta program. Back to the endless waiting...
